Net used in front of projection screen on Golf Fix?

    Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me what kind of net is used in front of the projector screen on the Golf Fix program?

I would like to put up a net to quiet the impact but still have images projected through the net.

    Thanks!

Rather than a net which will create shadows some here have put memory foam immediately behind the screen.

The Golf Fix has a rear projection screen, so the images are not projected through the net.

Oh Snap! Didn't know some golf simulators use a rear projection screen. Interesting....

Yeah, wife was getting abit irritated by the THUD sounds at night. Any suggestions on where to get memory foam? Sounds heavy to hang and expensive if its anything lile TempurPedic? However it could be much cheaper than a divorce.. :O

    Thanks guys!

memory foam is pretty heavy. You can get it at walmart or just about any department store that has bedding stuff.

If it is the screen making the noise won't it still be loud? You don't want to hit directly into a solid object - even a mattress behind the screen will send the ball right back at your face as I learned the hard way. You need some airspace behind to absorb the force.

Impact screen does make a loud impact. I guess everyone has a simulator setup where you have a door to block noise, a garage or a separate man cave from a home. Man I wish I had Golf Fix setup with net. All it takes is money right? Happy wife and happy life!

I have not put up the memory foam yet but it is like dense jello that slowly goes back to shape, would absorb impact not rebound. Worth a try.

At golf ball speeds it might not have time to deform and absorb the energy? Let us know if it works.

    Hey All,

First off looking through a net to a rear projection screen is a little weird, and secondly you may end up doing this:

I know we are not ALL long drivers here, but if you do go this route, make sure you get a good net

    Cheers,
    Cory

    Corey,

I had bought a black golf net from Ebay, but unfortunately I blew a hole through it after a few iron strikes and it hit the actual movie projector screen I had mounted against a concrete wall. Lucky no hole in the screen. I decided to double it over and after a few hits, even the double over net didn't stop the ball. Obviously I returned it to the seller suggesting that it definitely does not work as a golf net!
I dont hit a ball like Jamie but I do put a decent move on the ball!

Anyways I was considering NetReturn but cannot justify the cost! Thought I'd ask before pulling the trigger.

    Hey pboon,

Are you looking for a good net, or do you need a frame and and automatic return?

The Net Return is a cool setup, but if the cost is too high for you, you may want to consider just a stronger net with a baffle.

Can you elaborate (or point to a thread) on the net with a baffle? Does the baffle help to have the ball return to you? How is it set up?

A baffle can be many things, but what I am referring to is basically a net in front of a net that deadens the ball. Our Practice Cages have baffles:
    http://www.par2pro.com/shop/product_...products_id=55

Not only does it deaden the ball, it adds a safety factor - if your ball goes through the baffle (maybe because it is at the end of its life) it still has another net in behind it so it doesn't get out of the cage.

    Hopefully that helps
