3 wood shaft in 5 wood head thoughts

I am currently on vacation in the sun and played with a guy who was using a 5 Wood with a 3 wood shaft. He really hit it well

Would appreciate opinions, like this guy I have trouble hitting a 3 wood and am thinking of giving it a try.

    Thanks

All it does is soften the flex a little assuming the shaft was not but trimmed to playing length.
If it has been but trimmed to playing length the shaft tip will play a little softer.

good points...also keep in mind when you have a longer shaft you must still be able to deliver the shaft at impact. slightly longer arc...
depending of shaft flex your timing is the key...a longer shaft does not make it easier to hit...timing and tempo...maybe a longer shaft slows down your swing speed into the ball and creates a more compact and compressing contact. i had tried a driver shaft in a 3 wood and found my tempo was all out of whack...went back to reg length half way through season and realized i was trying to hit the ball hard instead of a smooth compressing swing...it all worked out...

    Thanks

Not really a big deal. The club is basically a 5w, an 1'' longer with a softer tip maybee, depending on the shaft and who did the work. The added 3* of loft is a good thing and is the reason why I recommend 4w's to my customers. This way you drop the 3 and 5 fw from the bag and now have room for an extra wedge of hybrid.

Is this basically what Clevleand did last year with the Launcher FL 3 wood @ 17*? It has 4-5 wood loft, but is 43 or 43.5 long. And with the 50g miyazaki C kua 43, its hard to imagine anything playing much softer in the tip than that thing.

Might wanna take a look as they are cheap online, and the head is actually larger than the 5 wood head, so presumably more forgiving.

    Just a thought
