I'm starting my Level Two in the new year. Been playing the game for 45 yrs. Figure it's about time I really knew what I was supposed to be doing....lol

Once the folks at your club find out you become the go-to guy for rulings. I quite like that as it keeps me on my toes. I never offer rulings without being asked, unless of course I'm playing a match with the person. What amazes me when playing with people I don't know is the lack of general rules knowlege. It's hard to tell when someone doesn't know the correct ruling or proceedure or if they are taking liberties. I prefer to assume they just don't know. People feel confronted when you point out an infraction, no matter how you present it, so I refrain if it doesn't affect my own game. Thankfully the guys I play with regularly are all up for playing by the book, and no offence is ever taken by anyone in that group.

I'm the same way Dan and it sure is amazing how many haven't got a clue about the rules and just plain don't care yet they'll have the high handicap and want strokes.

I have no issues with those that don't care. A "free drop" or a foot wedge keeps the round moving along. I just don't play them for money.

many years ago the mens or womens associations would have the club officials in to do basic rules. On PEI we are losing the club associations, I believe if we get back to a similar state 20yrs ago the entire golfing industry will be better. I hope my son with either level 2 or 3 will do some presentations to alot of the clubs junior programs . This will help bring the rules back into the social game as well. Speaking as a PEI DIRECTOR my son will be a huge benifit to promoting a grass roots programs for rules. My son has for whatever reason taken a huge interest in all aspects of the rules, and incase people are wondering his dad unfortunatly is not much help, I can only assist with situations not the rules. I am learning from him so this is great.. I thank all to have responded to Timmys questions and debates, he really enjoys it.
