Red Chain Software
Just wondering if anyone has heard a sniff in regards to what's happening with this software? It's Christmas and no word yet?

Me neither. I last asked Dean at red chain about it and whether they were close to having any screenshots, but he said they "haven't got much right now." Not sure on the state of that project...I don't think it's a great sign we're up to December and they still haven't put out any screenshots even.

Looks like another maybe next year project. Perfect Parallel seems more geared to the pc market. I guess you can't blame them as there are more buyers. If the E6 was tweaked a little more, it might be a contender.

Their screenshots look pretty sweet.

Played Burrangarra for the first time today. What a tough layout. Beautiful course that reminds me of a desert course/links course/St.Andrews type course all rolled into one. The greens are the most difficult that I have played on. Love the added touch of the seagulls flying over the fairways as you hit the ball.

Always fun to try some of the courses you've passed over before, isn't it? I remember on the forums for the PC version of the game, people loved the look and layout of that course, but it got panned for its greens being ridiculously tough to keep a ball on. I think they may have released an updated version at some point to make it a bit more fair. I remember I booted it up to take a look, but never actually played a round.

That's one of my favorites. Beautiful and challenging.

I started this thread so we could make comments about the software.
I find the putting difficult to read at times. Sometimes the green surface looks totally flat with no movement and the ball will break a little. There needs to be more fine tuning to the grid. The grid lines need to be closer together or the balls need more movement to show the true break. I know I am nit-picking but I never found this problem with the links courses.
I would like to see different penalties for different lies - light rough/med rough/high rough/desert/scrub, etc.
It would be nice to see all the ball flight for wedge shots and other higher lofted shots.

I agree with all of psace's comments.
I'll add that the putting grid should extend all the way to the hole. Ever had a putt over 40'-50'? The grid stops short of the hole location, sometime way short.
I'd also like to see more contract in light/dark as sometimes certain courses look washed out green.

Yes, I forgot to mention the putting grid extending all the way to the hole since we can zoom up to the hole.

This better get into a editable wish list format or it will all get forgotten again.
Think we have had a few wish list threads that just faded away.

I believe the only way to make the greens better is to redo the courses. Some greens are better than others. Lets hope we have more options in the future....

That is funny because that's where I'm going today. Nice place. 6 sim bays with one being a private party sim room.

LOL....The only thing missing in the private sim room is a pole or two....
JK....The ceiling in my basement is only 8.5' high. My taller friends need more room to swing. They also have the E6 on one of the sims. Flat panels in all the sims for watching news or sports.

Zmax is helping us all out by trying out all the sims. He can give very informative advice to all with his experimentation. Now that pole idea, hmm...... No, it would just get in the way and where would I get the girls?
