Single Golfer at Myrtle Beach
Appreciate some advice on being single golfer in Myrtle Beach.
I want to go for a golf trip to Myrtle Beach in December but cannot convince any of my golf buddies to go with me. Looks like I will be the lone golfer this time. I will stay in Sandy Beach resort.
Got a few questions:
1. Is weather in December enjoyable to play golf?
2. any suggestions on the courses I should try not too far from where I stay that accept single golfer?
3. Any provider that offers golf package for single?
4. Do you advice securing tee times before I go?
5. What is the best way to get a good deal for play as a single?
Thanks!

1. Is weather in December enjoyable to play golf?
you'll likely get some nice days and some cool ones
2. any suggestions on the courses I should try not too far from where I stay that accept single golfer?
It won't be very busy then so most will take singles. You are pretty central so from there you can go up the 501 corridor or just north east to find a number of good courses. Depends how much you want to spend but from there: Prestwick, Arrowhead, Legends (all 3), MB National, Grande Dunes, Pine Lakes, Wild Wing Avocet are all good tracks. Best to ring them to see if you can get a game.
3. Any provider that offers golf package for single?
MB Golf Authority or MB Golf Desk are good.
4. Do you advice securing tee times before I go?
Figure out when and where you want to play. It's a big area and you can drive a long way to get to some places if you don't research things. Or you can call the day of and see if you can get on
5. What is the best way to get a good deal for play as a single?
not sure, golf is cheap then so the deals will be good regardless.

I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

It is quiet in December, you will not have a problem playing as a single golfer and taking advantage of 48 hour rates.
The Legends and MBN courses are your best bet.
While we are not able to book single golfers, feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. By the way, we book lots of groups at the Sandy beach Resort, very nice place.
Have fun.http://www.EatDrinkSleepGolf.com

Thanks EDSGOLF! Got a few more questions hope you don't mind
How does 48 hour rates work? Just call the course within 48 hours of planned tee time and get a discount? how much discount I should expect with 48 hour rates?
I found The Legends, very nice courses, not far from Sandy Beach resort.
Didn't find MBN courses. Are they courses in one resort like The those 3 legend courses?

MBN is across from Legends. Kings North, Southcreek, West course
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Sorry for the confusion. I mean a place to sleep over if I decide not to drive all the way to MB the same day.

sl31 when you enter a new state there is always a welcome center with clean washrooms and also discount books for hotels/motels along the way. I have found that the discounts are good value compared to regular rates. Last thing since you are going as a single I recommend sleeping one night on the road. I have done it in one day before with just me driving but found it tough and I had a passenger. On the way back it is even tougher because the trip is over.

Just came back from the Sandy Beach hotel last week. Great hotel and close to a lot of courses. Played MBN Kings North as a single golfer. I booked online and they hooked me up with a nice couple from Drummondville (amazing golfers too). Being October, getting on the courses is very easy and the prices are good, especially after noon. My wife and I played Myrtlewood Palmetto as a twosome.
As for places to stay, down highway 81 there are lots of hotels/motels at most turn offs. You can see their signs from the highway. We happened to stay at a Hampton Inn just off 81 at Hagarstown, Maryland (at the Pennsylvania/Maryland border) both ways. Next time I would go another hour south on the way down and another hour north on the way back to make the trip more even.
We found a good way to get in and out of MB by avoiding the traffic around Richmond and Washington. Sailed through Greensboro, North Carolina and had good relatively empty highways both ways.
81 is a nightmare with all of the heavy trucks using it during the week. On the Sunday back it was empty.Last edited by manotick; 11-10-2013 at 07:21 AM.

Is it busy in MB this time of year? Is it hard to get on to courses as a single? I'm thinking of heading down in a few days and "wing it" for a few days. Anyone ever have any issues?
Any thoughts would be great!
