WTB GC2 fitting software
Well guys, I bought a used GC2, now I am hoping I can find some software for it. I cant afford $2200 for new software from Foresight. Any help will be appreciated. Really only looking for the fitting portion for indoor practice. Pm me here, thanks again.

Even if you can get a copy of the software, you'll need the USB "dongle" attached to your computer for it to work. If you find someone willing to sell you the software, make sure that the "dongle" is included!! You might find the CG3 software will meet your needs - http://www.par2pro.com/shop/product_...roducts_id=245.

Very odd they did not sell the dongle and software as well. It is not worth anything to them now. The GC2 may be very hot!!!
Be careful as the serial number of the unit is used for software instal amongst other things like registration, updates and support.
Anyone buying a used one cheap should get proof of purchase.

Dont think there would be many buy it without software, would still ask for proof of ownership.

longbal30, have you setup an account at Foresight and tried to register the GC2? I can see someone like my teaching pro buying JUST the GC2 since it can be used outside / inside for a teaching tool, but agree most units are likely sold with the software.

Yep, everything checks out OK, I have a friend that bought it new, and he bought it without software also. He purchased it to practice at the range. It tells you everything you need to know without the software, the only reason I want the software is indoor simulation. During the summer, I took it to the range or course with me, just to learn distances, and figure out which shaft worked best in my driver.

Good news that your unit checks out for registration, no problems there anyway. I suspect it will be difficult to find the software (AND dongle) for sale without the GC2, as finding a used GC2 is difficult enough as it is! If you only want simulation, then I think the current "promo" offer for the CG3 software is the best deal you're going to find. http://www.par2pro.com/shop/product_...roducts_id=245

Try this site... someone posted it in the forum a while back in regards to the vector pro... their site says its compatible with GC2. $499 includes 2 ranges, 2 long drive grids, and 23 targets... Maybe contact them and see how it works... they also have something about free trial download... hope that helps...

Free 30 day trial, only $ 9.95 for personal use. Worth a trial.
Feature of learning how wind affects shot sounds interesting. Presume you hit a shot then it shows what different wind patterns would have done to it. Would be handy learning tool.

I have shot their guy Todd an email as well.

CPA, if you get a chance, can you please ask if their software will work with OpenOffice Calc, which IS Excel compatible and can import / export csv files? I can get a copy of Excel cheap via a discount at work, but would prefer to stick with OpenOffice, if possible. http://www.openoffice.org/

Here is the answer;
"No, Open Office will not work.
Any excel version will work (2002 or later!). Do not use the Excel 64 bit version.
You could buy a CD off ebay at reasonable price instead of Excel 2010 or 2012.
Todd"
DARN....

Drat, I can actually purchase a licensed version of Office through work cheap enough, just hate to clutter up the computer with anything I don't really need... I'll wait to see how your review turns out, since you've volunteered to be our guinea pig on this app - lol

Ok, so I now have a new problem. I have a copy of ping software, how so I hook the gc2 up to a computer? Will it run on nflight as is or do I still need gc2 software?

long how are you getting your stuff? Copy of the Ping nflight? Isn't that proprietary software? Its not for sale is it? I would expect that you would need the sdk from Foresight to have the unit use the Ping software.

I have a friend who does fitting, he knows I just want it to use as a driving range with information about ballflight. I guess I will have to call foresight Monday. Boy being poor sucks. It seems if you dont spend $8K, you have to lump through hoops just to get a indoor practice area.

You are a lucky person. How much did you pay for the GC2 again?

Lucky to find a used gc2? I paid $2500 for it. I don't feel very lucky. It's been a struggle to get it doing what I want it to do for winter practice. I'm not even sure I will get it to do simulation. I'm out of $, so if there is more software to buy, I'm out.

To anyone who may be interested, I finally got the GC2 up and running. The whole problem came from not having the original driver software that came with the unit. Now the computer can read the gc2, and my software is up and running. This is not the same software driver that you purchase seperately from Foresight, it is the software that comes with every unit Foresight sells. Now, I may actually be interested in Foresights $1000 software, but still seems a bit expensive, since all I am interested in is a driving range.
