Virtual long drive contest
Golftown sent me an email about their virtual long drive contest, anyone tried yet? I might stop there after work, see how hard I can spank one with the callaway club. Seems like a fun and free contest idea.

They are promoting the new Big Bertha 454 driver so that's the driver you will be using for the contest. There are prizes for long drive each week(Callaway balls, etc) and the overall long drive winner gets a new Big Bertha 454 driver. They are awarding a driver at each Golftown location(i think). I have no chance at winning but I'm sure some of you will.
Fore!

I won't win, but I'm going to enjoy pounding some.

If you go to Callaway's website you'll see why they're promoting this. The site has video clip of David Mobely's winning bomb at the RE/MAX WLDC finals, using this driver.

I did know that I'd be using a 454 and that it was the driver mobley used to win the wldc finals, all that information was in the email from the golftown leaderboard. I was asking if any of the forum users had tried it out yet.

How does it work? 5 balls longest drive in the fairway counts? It’s free?
Strive for perfection, but never expect it!

Its a "special offer" to the leaderboard members It claims to be free, and doesn't say (that I recall) how many drives you get on the simulator. It does say see the store for details. I'm going to try tonight around 5pm if its not busy there.

Pro Golf on Carling had something like this last weekend. A virtual closest to the pin contest and you had to use the Callaway X-18 irons with their new HX Hot golf ball. The winner got an Odyssey White Hot #1 putter. Seems like a good way for Callaway to get people to try their new equipment.

I finally made it there on friday after work. It was snowing outside, and golf town was deserted. I had the simulator to myself. I must have hit 100 balls, got one to go 313 yrds. The overall leader was 379 and the week's leader was 359. It was a lot of fun, very relaxed. I was in dress shoes and a tie also.

313y is more then acceptable. How did you like the driver? Is it longer then your driver?

I believe the simulator at golf town is a little user-friendly. 313 is definately long, and the driver felt very nice, the head is so huge. I was swinging %100: at 130 m.p.h according to the computer, which I belived. I have hit drives that long in the past, but really only downwind. But I rarely swing that hard ever. I told the clerk that it was a nice driver, but that I'm not switching. I just got my 983e.
