Lost ball
I just passed the RCGA Rules Level 2 exam but I'm not sure about the answer to the following question:
"A ball is lost if a player has made a stroke at a substituted ball; he is not required to search for the original ball."
Can you guys please give an explanation? Thanks a lot!

Congrats Jeff on passing Level 2. If you check the definition for a substituted ball it may have your answer in that it is a ball put into play for the original ball that was either in play, lost, out of bounds or lifted. If you hit a stroke and it goes deep in the woods you can substitute a ball from where that stroke was played from and you don't have to go looking and therefore the original ball is lost by definition. I hope that is clear as I sometimes don't get the explanations exact in writing.

Many thanks gbower. Salute to the L4! You explanation is clear and it cleared out my confusion. I guess that I paid too much attention on "he is not required ..."
