Fixing a chip in forged iron
Is it possible to 'patch' or refinish a chip in a forged iron? I hit a rock under the turf and chipped my PW. It's right on the sole of the club. Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

If it's on the sole and not visible don't worry about it since it doesn't affect playability.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

it's tough to do it well. I did the same thing a few years back and I ended up buying a new head as mine were almost brand new.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

What you have to realize is that , you probably didn't remove any material from the club head.
Unless there was a chunk of metal lying beside the rock , then all you did was put a deep scratch or gouge the club head .
You could probably dress out most of the damage with a decent sheetmetal hammer , but unfortunately it would never look perfect .
Adding metal would only change the weight of the head though the difference would be minimal , welding changes the properties of metal , and could affect the temper of the forged steel too .At the end of the day ... It gets dark

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I'll have to live with it since I won't be buying a new head.
