Inflatable Cube Sim Tent
IMG_0260.jpgIMG_0224.jpg
here are some photos of the portable sim tent I have ordered
The inside will be black materials and total darkness.
There will be D hooks on ceiling and walls to attach HQ screen via bungee cord as well as golf netting in the hitting zone on walls and ceiling
The inside measures 5 metres wide, 12 metres long and 4 metres high- will double as a party tent!
Floor is sewn in. Figure it should take about 30 minutes to set it up.
Still thinking about projector mount on floor or extendable arm on a base like a portable basketball hoop
edit: and it is airtight so It stays up for days without a blower on!

Yes please keep us up. Might be an interesting alternative, assuming everything goes well with your setup.

Just an update for you Bubba. They have given me a price for a smaller version inside measures 14.8 * 21.3 * 11.5 feet (4.5 by 6.5 by 3.5 metres) . Smaller party. Price without delivery is US$2400. By sea delivery would be approx $250.
They claim these things can hold 4 inches of snow. But I would suggest a heater inside to make sure it melts.

Here are some photos of the cube sim tent still in China.
The inside floor is actually black. Looks dark enough inside.

They just have to do a few more things like sew the floor in.
Say they are posting airmail so 2 weeks max.

Wow - sooo cool CPA. I would totally buy one for portable setups, but it would have to be Fire Retardant and I would want to see how you finish the interior to ensure no balls put holes in the inflatable and that no balls bounce back and hit the golfer

Bounce back will be in your court Cory-your HQ Screen attached away from back wall.
the hitting area inside will be lined with simple 1 inch golf netting attached via hooks at top of walls-distance from wall maybe adjusted
attached to screen with Velcro zigzag between netting. No impact of ball against tent.
The material is fire retardant 0.9 mm PVC coated tarpaulin.
Will give yon an email when I get it with a rundown.

As posted previously the Sim tent had its first run at the school carnival on the weekend.
Teething issues;
the tent has 8 valves but they only sent 2 pumps- l bought more but the pump attachment pushes in the valve so could only use 2 a time. took nearly 2 hours to inflate. 6 more pumps from China will do it in 30 minutes. The tent is HUGE, Cory you would need less than 1/2 size so 10 minutes to pump up.
Misunderstanding with the hook placement. They put the hooks on on the bottom not roof so hanging a net is not possible at moment. Worked out net is not needed anyway as all roads (except above) lead to the screen and balls do no damage to walls.
I had arranged a scaffold system for screen and projector overhead. Too complex and difficult to erect. All that is needed is;
2 heavy umbrella stands for side of net with fibreglass poles to ensure screen kept stretched. Perhaps a light net above screen on extended poles to ensure balls don't bounce back or damage walls.
Projector on side of tent with horizontal lens shift.
once I have this setup time will be;
pump up tent and tie down- 30 min
move in stands and put up screen (will need another screen Cory) and 3 lights on more umbrella stands - 5 minutes
move in truestrike mat and GC2- 5 minutes
set up projector and computer -5 minutes
need to tie down on grass with pegs as sandbags would not suffice on a windy day
It took 3 blokes to roll out the tent and a further 3 people for a short time just to fold in sides, mind yon they had had too much to drink by that stage-but it is HUGE
Overall a very quick and impressive mobile golf course. the Gc2 with bluetooth was a dream to swap for the lefties.

Wow, sounds like quite the ordeal. Would moving the projector on the side of the tent limit the system to right handed golfers only?
PS: Send me the dimensions you need and I will get you a screen as soon as possible

Projector on side is level with ball at 4.5m. 2.5 m to side so no chance of hitting it and no blocked lens.
Will find the fiberglass poles before I get screen.

Old thread but any news on this one after using it for some longer time? Because I have just moved houses and my new place doesn't have to the space for a nice indoor hitting cage like at my old place. So looking for something like this.

Frans
Would be a pain for permanent setup. Wind a factor as with a gazeebo setup. Both would blow away.
I suggest permanent steel frame cemented in and then removeable gazeebo roof and walls.

I understand, I was thinking about going fully mobile and start dong the fittings on the DR but use this tent to do fitting at my house if needed. So no need for a permanent installation.
Are you still happy with it? How about the temperature inside when it's warm/hot/cold outside? Speed of setup? Easy to transport? Seems I'm looking forward to a new review from you after you using it for some serious period because I really like the idea.
