    Club-attached swing analyzers

Just curious if anyone has experience with any of these devices. They look very interesting...not sure if they'd be suitable to integrate with simulator software (as an alternative to something like the DD), but I think they're a very interesting option to add on for someone with a camera-based system that is looking for club data (far, far cheaper than the club analyzer add-on for GC2, that's for sure).

It sounds like the accuracy of these things is questionable because they have to guess at where the clubhead is (based on assumptions or configuration for shaft length, flex, etc.). I think a really cool option would be a 2-piece system, where one device is attached at the grip end, and the other device is clipped on above the hosel. With data on where exactly each end of the club is at all points of the swing, I would think there would be some very detailed/accurate data to support a near perfect representation of what the club did during the swing.

I don't think these things are as useful for club face angle and shot shapes, but they do look useful for working on tempo and club lag (forward leaning shaft angle at impact).

Great idea rdh. I agree about the accuracy. From what I have read the only accuracy is in the club head speed. Face angle, path etc will be very suspect. I really like your idea rdh. Perhaps you should inform them!

RGH, check for patents on your idea. It makes more sense than anything I see in the "club attached analyzer" market right now and, at first glance, certainly seems "do-able". I think something like that would be great for club fitting, as well!

Yes, get a patent before Apple sues you
    One issue is the hardware.
The gyroscopes and acceleration meters are chips designed for smart phones low price in volume and low accuracy is +- 3 degrees at the very best.
Guess the accuracy will improve with new chips.
Not sure how accurate the acceleration meters are?

Like your idea but it might be a problem with the added weight at the club head? Have always assumed that is why those devices and the clamp on swing meters were attached by the grip?
