Cutting down a long putter into a regular putter.....

I am toying with the idea because i really like the upright lie angle. I stand really close to the ball causing the heel of the putter to lift by as much as 2-3mm. The way the putter sits at address really bugs me. I am currently using a Odyssey DART putter which has a lie angle of 70. My concern with a cut down long putter is that the added weight of a head could throw things off? Has anyone tried this? Also, i have never been fitted for a putter so i do not know what is my ideal lie angle but can my current odyssey be bent to 75 or higher to accomodate my stance? Is this too much of an adjustment?

It will mess things up pretty quickly. A mid or belly putter should be heavier to achieve the same swing weight. The website allows you to custom order up to 3 degrees flat or upright...assuming it is 72 flat, then yes 75 shouldn't be a problem. You might be better off trying a stock putter at the correct length. The GT sale starts tomorrow and from memory, there are usually a ton of odyssey putters that are marked down to clear out.

A quick search on ebay also has a lot of used stock for $60 or so...

you should analyse your misses in putting to help determine if an inappropriate lie could be a factor
