    Hitting 2 balls at once

I was playing a round on Saturday and I hit my tee shot in some nasty rough on the 6 hole in a hazard. We identified my ball in the hazard. As I hit my ball, I make contact with another ball and both balls end up on the fringe. When we identified my ball, there was no other ball visible in the area . When we look at the second ball, it looked as if had been plugged as it was completely covered in mud. Just wondering what the ruling is.

Play your ball as it lies.

I assume that the other ball was an abandoned ball, so it would be classified as a moveable obstruction. You could have obtained relief by moving it, but you did not (obviously because you didn't know it was there). C'est la vie.

    Like justsomeguy said.

There is a specific decision on this one. Basically, because you could not see the abandoned ball and you were actually making a stroke at your ball (this is key) you aren't penalized for hitting the other one.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

15/2 - Player's Stroke at Own Ball Dislodges Concealed Ball

Q.A player plays a stroke with his own ball in the rough and also hits an old abandoned ball which was hidden beneath his ball. Since he struck the hidden ball, did he play a wrong ball?

A.No. The player played a stroke with his own ball, not with the hidden ball. Since he did not play a stroke with the hidden ball, Rule 15-3 is not applicable. The player must play his ball as it lies.
