    Course suggestions

    Hi
I want to take my 7 year old and friend out to play 9 holes of golf, but do not know the best course. Ideally I would like something like Capital, where it is short and fairly wide open. The only drawback to Capital is that the course does not come back to the clubhouse after 9 holes (same problem with Pineview Exec).
I was told there was a new 9 hole par 3 courses on the Navan road by the driving range and dump(not Whitesands - too difficult), but cannot find any info on it.

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

It is at the corner of Mer Bleu and Navan Rd. It is immediately adjacent to and operated by the same individual. I have not played the course, but understand that the cost is $20 for 9. Don't know if there is a 'kids' price.

You may wish to check out Poplar Grove as well. It is not the greatest of tracks but has a Par 3 separate from the 18 hole course on which I taught my 2 boys to play at the age of 7. The good thing is that there will be only you out there with the boys. They used to have kids rates but it is under new ownership and I am unaware of their current pricing regime.

    Wherever...have fun...special times....

Thanks, I completely forgot about Poplar Grove (I haven't played there in a while)

Metcalf is also a good option. They have a separate 9 hole course and offer a kids play for free every Sat and Sun after 4:00PM and they provide the clubs.

Another option is the 9 hole course at the Marshes. I took my son out there when he was younger.

I've taken my kids to Falcon Ridge / Raceview - one of the kids will play free late afternoon on weekends (I think after 4). Raceview is fun and if any of the holes are too long just get tee them closer to the hole. On top of that there's a great range practice area. Falcon Ridge doesn't come back to the clubhouse after 9 either iirc but it is wide open.
