Cancellation Wheels in Motion

What an absolute shame. Greed and stupidity are the undoing of the NHL. Bury the league and bring on the WHA.When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Bring on replacement players & lock out the
regular players from the golf courses!
More tee times for us!

Players finally broke on a cap...they're not that far off ($12M plus or minus some details), and with another full day before the "announcement" we might see a season. Its good to see the players union break on a cap. Too bad Bettman didnt have a drop dead date a month ago, this may have been resolved by now. All along people have been saying that Goodenow needs a deadline to negotiate....we'll see if they were right tomorrow....

whatever happened to "We will never accept a cap"?

down to about a 6.5 million difference after last nights negotiations....if a deal isnt made today it will be very disappointing. both sides keep saying "and thats my final offer" but keep moving.....hopefully the 1pm announcement will be that a deal is made, not that the seasons cancelled....im not giving up hope yet.

If they don't bridge the 6.5M gap then they (owners and players) are a bigger bunch of babies than I thought. Surely this is the best offer that either side is going to get, take it now while it's on the table!
It would be terrible to lose the season over such little money (for them not me).

Looks like both sides felt that there was nothing left to talk about after getting so close!

Bye bye hockey.

It'll certainly be sad if they don't even talk about this more now that they got so close. It sounds like they don't plan on meeting for a while, and if it doesn't get done by June, I'd say the chances of getting hockey in October as planned is 30/70 against.

I'm supporting the underdog from now on. They were a good idea back in the 70's that was 30 years ahead of it's time. I hope that the WHA can make a go of it and give the fans some affordable entertainment, and create some jobs for the ushers and concession workers who've lost out this time around. Gretzky, Messier, Howe and Hull played there. Who's to say a kid like Crosby won't?
