    Hideaway/retracable stance platform?

I have an area in my new garage that I am dedicating for a simulator. I have about 15 feet of depth to play with, but, my question is, has anyone built a partially disappearing floor? One that can be slid into, like a drawer, or folded over when I am not golfing so that I can reclaim about half of that 15 feet? I cant find any threads , but i am sure one of you has done something or knows someone who has done something like this. Thanks in advance.

Check out RDH's setup. It's on the first page.

Thanks. What I don't like about that is I lose my screen. If it only folds or slides in half I am good with that.

It appears people are making their platforms out of dense foam panels (what size?) and plywood (what size?) and putting their hitting mats/sensors on top of that, is that correct? I could make a couple of those and either hinge them or just pick one up and set it on the other. I am thinking of making the front part a putting green with the "bent green" and the back the sensor mat (optishot for now, gc2 type in the future). Does this seem like a good idea?

Have you thought about just using a fold-up mat like this:

Or do you want/need a whole platform?

that is something i would put on top of the platform. it is in a garage with cement floors, i want to create a space that is cement free, green, and a bit softer. the space I want to cover is 11' wide x 13' deep. my goal would be to be able to eliminate 6' of the depth when not in use.

What I used to do in my garage was roll out an area rug and then put the mats on top of that. I could then fold up the mats and roll the rug back out of the way in no time flat. You could also do this with turf, indoor/outdoor carpet, or whatever else you may fancy

does that give you enough impact forgiveness? so maybe just some commercial carpet padding with a layer of fake turf to roll out then the hitting mats and putting surface to place on it?

forgiveness of the ball dropping on it?

You can get good putting turf that has a backing on it so that you don't need the commercial padding.

I never really thought about rolling up carpeting. I assumed there needed to be more padding between the hitting surface and an unforgiving cement floor, but if a layer of a good putting turf with the hitting mat on top is plenty then I will looking into doing only that. Can I get a piece of 11'x13' putting turf with "holes"?

Yes that would be enough support, actually many users just put a stance mat down on concrete - the stance mats have about 1 to 1.5 inches of high density foam which absorbs shock.

Yes, you can buy putting turf with a backing and then cut out the area you want to put your sensor pad / hitting turf into. There are a lot of different types of turf out there, but if you would like a quote, just send me an email at cory@par2pro.com.

A decent putting turf with padding is $2.89 USD / sq ft. You can get better turf with a better underlay, but at a higher cost.
