    Prolaunch Red 3 Wood trimming

I have a prolaunch red that I purchased to use in my driver. It has an R9 tip and the shaft was not tipped when the tip was installed. I want to try it in my 3 wood, can I just remove the grip and butt trim it to the right length?

    Thanks

The recommended tipping for a Prolaunch Red is 1/2" for a 3 wood. So keep that in mind.

Okay, so if I don't remove the R9 tip and tip trim 1/2" what will that do to the playing characteristics? Make the tip softer resulting in a higher ball flight? I was planning on just trimming the butt.

Yes, it will play softer and should play accordingly. I take its going into a TM FCT head.
I'd suggest trying as is but leave 1/2" in case its too soft so you can tip trim after it if need be. Try it out choke up, then if you like how the flex plays butt trim that extra 1/2". or you could butt trim to length and if you find it too soft tip trim and extend it. I prefer the first so you don't have to deal with extensions - i'm not a fan of them.

Its going into an R9 3 wood and currently the shaft is setup up to play in an R9 Supertri driver. I'll give a trim and maybe leave the 1/2 inch and then see how it feels. Thanks for your help.
