If he hit it 370 there's likely a tail wind which would also take his aproach longer. I've played with all kinds of players, I've never seen anyone hit a 370 yard drive. the 200 yard 8i for me is easier to believe. With todays string lofts I think you could nuke it onto the front with a bit of wind.

I think its complete and total BS...
... not the 370 yard drive. Everyone will pull out the driver on 568 yard par 5, and if the stars are aligned perfectly for a long hitter hitting downhill and downwind cutting the corner on a dogleg swinging out of their shoes it is entirely possible for them to hit a 370 yard drive once in a lifetime.
What I think is total BS is being 198 yards from the green and saying "Hmmm, that's an 8-iron for me". Now THAT I find hard to believe.

Sadlowski is 5' 11", and weighs 168 pounds.http://www.golf.com/tour-and-news/su...hitter-history
So it is posssible but it could also be BS.
Last year I played with a guy in his upper 40's and about the size of Sadlowski and the guy kept outdriving all of us all day by a good 45 yards and sometimes more.At the VM he almost hit the green on number 8 with his tee shot. However it got more complicated after the drive but what a long hitter he was.

I'd be skeptical of those claims until I saw him hit the ball those prodigious distances. That said, I wouldn't have challenged him about his claim. There's no point.

People are funny when it comes to this stuff. I know i followed closely my driving distance last year. Measured with GPS a few drives a round that actually found the fairway. My average was 279 Yards over 50+ odd rounds. longest of the year was 325 but shortest was 210ish. I would say for every drive i had near or over 300 i had a bunch at 240ish. Of course these are all depending on conditions and wind.
I know for me if i have to carry more then 260 i will not try it unless conditions are in my favor. It helps to know your true driving distance.Twitter: Gropper76

If you really want to know how far you hit any club use the GPS. I have hit drives and using the yardage markers seemed pretty good until I saw what the GPS showed me. That being said his SS must be out of this world

I went on a launch monitor a week and a half ago and the numbers were somewhat sobering....

hmmm
my guess is that he was playing somewhere like chateau cartier, #2 used to be a par 5, but they moved the tee box up and made it a par 4 to make room for the new condos. however the scorecard still says its a par 5, with the par 5 yardage. 370 i believe, as i average 260-285 on my drives, and i hit the green on #9 at champlain last year, 362 yards. with the right wind, hit the downslope right, and catch the sweet spot right, the ball can really go. i do have a hard time with the 198 yard 9 iron though. to choose that club you would have to know you could hit it that far. most of us would reach for our 4,5 or 6 i think. sounds like this guy never got past the kindergarten story telling phase. if not, get me his number, ill be his manager. $$$$$

Kinda funny hear how Luke Donald averaged 280 yards last year and was considered short. He would be a beast with most people other then tour pros!

I once played in high winds in South Alberta on a course where the 1st and 9nth are par 5's, 535 and 545. On the first (into the wind) I hit driver, 3 wood, 3 wood, 4 iron, wedge. On the ninth, I hit driver, 7 iron over the back. Without wind, it's driver 3 wood for me at that yardage. Conditions, like location, are everything.

Being a long hitter myself (SS 120-125mph) it could be true but conditions and location make a huge difference. Also the way he measured ie maybe dog leg could be a factor. I have not hit one 370 in the Ottawa area but when I was home the other week in soft conditions hit one approx 340 at Upper Canada, used my range finder for distance. Most were carrying about 300 and stopping dead
However I live in Calgary and often drive 350 plus but altitude and hard ground make a huge difference.
It is too bad no one saw him swing before bashing him.
Also most pros don't swing as hard as they can like most amateurs do. They are looking for control and accuracy. Also there driving distances are averages and are not reflective of how far they can actually tag a ball.[FONT=System][COLOR=DarkRed]

I started doing the same thing this year more to draw the correlation between my swing, distance and getting into trouble off the tee. It has really helped. In short when I see nothing but field my tendency is to release the hounds.... then I go for walk to the neighboring fairway. When things are a little tighter I stay within myself and my swing and magic, a lot less trouble off the tee and more fairways hit.... dang this game is simple [sarcasm sign]

Rez, me I'd just sit there and listen to him and enjoy the conversation. Who cares if it's true or not, golf is a social game, be social, enjoy meeting new people, enjoy stories and tell your own. As an avid fisherman, I can say I've heard everything. And it's fun to hear, even if they're not true.
