Does anyone know when Le Sorcier will be opening up?

Can't wait to play sorcier... Has always been a favourite of mine

It opened yesterday!
Renovations aren’t finished yet but WOW will it look nice once completed. They’ve re-done the interior completely, all dark wood floor, bar has been rebuilt completely (bigger) new furniture, men and women locker rooms upstairs…etc!
As for the course, new electric carts (nice and quiet) paved cart path (no more dust), white powder sand in the traps (lost of it too). A few trees have been cut here and there that I’ve noticed, #3, #5,# 8, they’ve re-done a few tee offs #4, #8, #10.
They will have their liquor license this Friday (Mai 11th) new bar staff too ;-) .
Looks very promising.

But still overpriced in my opinion... $65 + tax is too much for that course
I realize that price includes a cart, and I know you need to take a cart there, but $75 for a round is a bit steep for some people...
As a "new ownership" course, I would have expected some better pricing to show off the improvements...

I disagree, $65 including cart is pretty fair, the cart is an average of $30 at most courses so the green fee would be around $35 and that is very fair for this course. Compare it to Chateau Cartier where you would pay $32.50 for teh cart and $45 + tx for the green fee. Go to Les Vieux Moulins, pay them $45 to play as well plus cart, the price point seems fair to me, I do not know where you play for less?
I would play Sorcier 100% of the time. If you consider the money they put in there the fees are still very reasonable.Lefty Lucas

If a course forces you to take a cart they should discount the price of the cart per player IMO.

You have a point but you would not appreciate the 6 hour rounds otherwise. To walk that course would be very difficult with all of the elevation changes, it would just take too long. Pinehurst #2 keeps its greens when open to the public pretty slow otherwise it would take too long to finish a round with most players 3 and 4 putting

Totally agree with you Leftylucas the price is fair if you consider the course you're playing.
I'd rather play Sorcier on a weekend at $75.00 with cart before I play those flat field like "Meadows" and "Anderson Links" at $68.00 with cart.
My two cents

I find Sorcier a bargain, always have. One of the finer courses in the area, a mini-Tremblant style. I'm looking forward to seeing the new staff!!!!!!!!!! LOL

With EG: $40, tax in, cart in. Can't beat that !

Agree with TLB....$40.00 with Exec, can't beat it. Even at regular rates, I thinks it's competitively priced in the Ottawa area. I've only played the course once, last summer, and I loved it. Returning to play it this Saturday....can't wait. Only reason I haven't played it more is that it's a bit of a hike from Barrhaven.

Its a Quebec Broker's association tournament for May 31. Defending champ here. Last year was the 1st time I've ever played in one of these corporate events and another member of my foursome was not just an avid golfer, but a scratch player! It was great! Usually its me and 3 ladies that have never golfed in their lives.

Only issue with paying the sorc price is that its in the middle of nowhere. Most people do not live downtown so its not a short drive. The time invested to get there should drop the rate a bit more imo.
Course is/was rather gimmicky too. When I first played it, I thought it was in great shape. Before new owner I thought it was on par with Manderly at best. So this thread has me wanting to head over prior to the sun scramble.

Just back from the Sorcier for the second time within the last 2 weeks. Nice course , good layout but i have to agree that at regular price it's a bit too steep .
I also agree that when cart are compulsary you should have a discount.
Since it opened it's packed because of the 2 for 1 but on the first of next month there 's gonna be plenty of tee off available.
BTW I shot 78

I played it on Tuesday. Fairways were good - some bare patches but overall very playable. I was more familiar with the rough, which was thick. Greens were in great shape - a little on the slow side but its still May. New white sand in the bunkers is a big improvement over past years.
We had some rain on Tuesday and the course seemed to be draining well. The new electric carts and paved cart paths are a big improvement (especially in the wet weather), and the clubhouse renovations are coming along nicely. Looks like all the maintenance buildings are being renovated too.
They've moved the tees on #3 back to their original location, so the green is definitely reachable in two but the creek is even more in play off the tee now. They've also moved the tees on #10 closer to the 9th green, so its a sharper dogleg now but you can still cut the corner with a driver or 3-wood.
I think the price is competitive. I'm sure that most of the clientele is from Gatineau, and the course is pretty close for them. They've invested money in course conditioning, and after the renovations are done it will certainly have a more upscale look and feel. I'll go back.

I hope they also worked on the greens and that they are now softer. I personally did not like landing in front or middle of greens with a 20 feet bounce to end up at the back in the rough, and I have a high ball flight. Some greens were way to hard. I haven't been there for 3 years though.

Played it yesterday, and immediately noticed the massive improvements over previous years. It is in excellent condition, and it is a real hive of activity. Club house interior is beautiful, upscale, they are finishing the exterior of the clubhouse now. The after-tournament meal was excellent also. It is well worth it imo. Although the layout is not to my personal taste, it is clear that the new owners are targeting the top-tier market for the region. Lol about it being remote, it is about a 7-10 minute drive from a population of 200,000+ people?

"Being remote"?? This course it only 15 minutes away from downtown Ottawa/Gatineau with a metropolitan pop of over 1 million! There are many courses in the Ottawa/Gatineau area that are far more remote and a much longer drive to get to. The course has a great layout....cut out of a mountain. There are not many places you can go with a 15 min drive to play a course with such elevation changes. I would much rather courses like this then drive south or west of the city and play a bunch of flat course with man made evelation changes, holes and fairways side by side with no scenery except for overpriced cookie cutters houses!

Played this course with Hearzy on Friday. I remember playing the course when I was with Executive Golf a few years back and liked the course from what I remembered.
I was expecting it to be in good shape but was pretty disappointed. Fairways were a bit shaggy, and a good amount of dead spots or patchy grass. The greens weren't rolling nicely, had a good amount of damage marks probably from some weekend hackers. Also noticed little weeds growing out from the greens which I wouldn't expect from ANY golf course. We barely got rained on, maybe 10-15 minutes tops, yet it soaked the entire course for the remainder of the round. Fairways and greens were both noticeably wet (could hear the water with every step).
They still have a ton of work to do, that's for sure. I know I'm not going back for awhile

Played on the weekend and loved the new paved pathways. Also loved the renos done to the clubhouse. Very nice.
My only issue was the greens were too slow and I found the ball didn't roll that well. Could have just been me but I hope they improve.

It's a half hour from downtown, and I am about a half hour from downtown so it's an hour each way for me at least. Same goes if you are in Kanata. That being said, Loch March and the Marshes are 45-50 min for me and Eagle Creek is an hour, let alone Arnprior, Renfrew, Greensmere, etc. It does actually limit my access to the course as there is no easy way to get there other than going through downtown which is a pain. I used to work near the casino so it was great then.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.
