    Hard time buying Irons

Does anybody else have a really tough time buying irons?
I have played Nike NDS 5-PW irons for many years and liked them, but it's time for something new. I want to point out the PW loft is 47*, so times have changed! haha

Anyways, I am trying to find a cast iron, preferable with no offset. Everytime I go to GT I change my mind, even though the options are limited.

Even the clubs with great reviews such as Titleist 712 AP1 or R11 have quite a bit of offset. My Nike irons had almsot none and i can't stand to look down at offset irons.

The screens at GT don't really offer too much reliable info in my opinion...

Any input on the following clubs would be helpful...

    i20?
    Razr X Tour?
    JPX 800?
    CG16 Tour?

    Anything I am missing?

    Thanks

I can only offer my opinion on the i20's. They are awesome, but you can find a used but mint set of i15's for less than half the price and the 15's are pretty awesome too. I love mine! I have used the i20's also and don't see hardly any difference.
If you want an iron with very little offset, buy yourself a used set of Taylor Made R9 TP B's or C's.

Are these too ambitous? I still use the same old set I've had for years, but when I poke around at the golf shops the Mizunos always are one of the stand outs. They are going for a song used on ebay all over the place.

Why not go to a plac e that fits clubs like Kevin Haines and try all the different clubs? When I got fitted there I hit no less than 8 different model clubs and probably as many shaft combinations.

Clubs are an investment and like a car they lose a lot of value the day you buy them if you picked the wrong on
    es, or the wrong combo.

After seeing the spec of the NDS online, why not try the Nike VR Pro CB. Lofts are identical. CB was a little less Offset than the NDS. Feeling will be much better being Forged. You should also try the VR_S Forged + Nike SQ Machspeed Forged. Both have a little more offset and stronger lofts.
Keep in mind any irons with very little offset fall in the Players Irons category and most will be forged. My PW is 49.

Lofts of the NDS and VR pro cavity are not at all the same and they have much more offset than NDS. The only irons so far with similar offset that are cast are the i20s.
I have tried forged and still prefer cast heads for the forgiveness and distance on mis hits.
So far it's down to the CG16 Tour which feel great and the i20...
    Might try the R11 again...

There is no difference in distance on a mi because an iron is cast or forged. Any difference is because of the shape of the head.

I'd expect there'd be more clubs that offered lot's of forgiveness without the high launch and big offset. Are the manufacturers missing a niche?

Generalizing, most game improvement irons also have offset because the people who want/need game improvement also need offset.

In the component field there are a couple of clubs that are low offset and game improvement but I can't think of any name brand clubs that fit the bill off the top of my head.

You might want to think about doing some research before correcting people.

The Lofts of NDS and VR PRO CB are exactly the same 5-PW : 27, 31, 35, 39, 43, 47.
+ VR PRO CB has LESS OFFSET than the NDS. VR PRO CB 5i 0.142" NDS 5i 0.155"

Do you not believe that the sweet spot on cast heads is slightly larger than the sweet spot on forged heads?

No. The type of steel used has nothing to do with how forgiving a club is.

As a general comment, it is easier to make larger cavities with cast clubs than forged because of the way the manufacturing processes work. One of the most forgiving heads out there is the Wishon 560MC. It is forged and the cavity is machined out of the back.

So, in the end, it comes down the specific design of the head.

There are of course some mixed metal heads with Titanium faces that create a spring effect which are in a different category altogether.

Sorry MK, I apologize... for being correct!
You have listed the specs for the Nike VR Pro Combo Set, not the Cavity Back set... But thanks.

It was not easy finding a set that works, but I have settled with the Cleveland CG16 Tour. The lofts are similar to the NDS, the heads offer forgiveness and a nice launch and the amount of offset is something I will have to adjsut to...

    Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry golfisforfun, MK is correct for being correct. The Forged VR Pro CB are the Nike VR Pro Combo CB.
Same specs. New for 2012. Outstanding forged irons.

Anyway, you two might want to end this Nike debate with a infamous Tiger Woods stare down
"You're a beauty, you know that?" "Have a good day."
or with a Jedi mind trick "These aren't the irons you're looking for."
