    Smile A Retro Retrofit

I've always liked old school Callaway fairway woods. I still own 3 of them. One BB Warbird 3 wood, and 2 GBB Warbird titanium 3 woods. The problem with the GBB woods is that they always sat too closed for my liking. So I had an idea...

I took the old shaft out of the more banged up one, and stripped off the paint down to the bare titanium, which I prefer anyway. Uncoated titanium develops a beautiful patina as it oxidizes in air.

After that I dry fit a Face-Fit .335 hosel adapter to see what it would look like. I wasn't happy with the first look, so off to the grinder and sander I went...

I ground down the rest of the short hosel on the head and rounded down the edges to flow in to the general shape. Once that was done I gave averything a light hand-sand.

Next, I trimmed back the bottom of the adapter slightly because it was protruding a bit from the bottom of the bore thru, and plugged it with a modified sole plug.

Once that was done, I epoxied the adapter in place, and finished off the bore thru once the epoxy was set.

The shaft is installed in the "open" position on the adapter, so the head now sits about .5° open. Perfect!

Here's some pics of the finished product.

When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

    Nice job.

Clearly you have too much spare time. I have some yard work that needs doing if you are looking for something else to do.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!
