$500 to add apple compatible bluetooth to GC2!

These guys are crazy. I seriously hope no one pays for this. The device comes with free built in bluetooth, but only for Andriod? If you want to connect to apple it's an extra $500?

Yes lucky I am no Apple fanboy, saved myself $500.

And that is only a mobile app. Could buy an Android tablet or 2 for that.

I have my android phone and my ipad. I just use it on my android phone for the $20 tyvm. It would be nice to have on my ipad though, but not $500 nice.

    Walb0034,

Are you saying you can't connect a iPad or iPhone using Bluetooth to the GC2? I have the app - I just have not tried to use it. What are they selling for $500.

The app for Ipad/iphone will not connect to the gc2 without the 500 dollar upgrade. It must be some kind of specail firmware but not sure. I also asked and when i heard the price i stopped thinking about it.

Unfortunate they have to try and make this much on an item like this.

No, you would need to send it to them or their rep and they will change the motherboard to your gc2. Its a hardware change. Maybe they should mix it with some golf courses and make it more appealing.

Guess that justifies the price somewhat but still a lot for the functionality you are getting currently. I guess if you are a fitter being outside it would be helpful to not have to walk over to the Gc2 while someone is hitting. I don't think there are a lot of features in the current app from what I have seen - seems like it just displays the numbers for each shot.

If it provided the same or similar functionality as the fitting module that is in the software then I could see this being worth the money.

How come every other bluetooth device I have ever used can connect to my iphone/ipad no problem, but this requires a $500 hardware upgrade? I still think this should be free. Like an above poster said, I can buy a dedicated android tablet for less than the upgrade costs.

The only nice thing about the apple upgrade, is that then your GC2 will work with ANY app it can feed data too, not just the foresight app.

I just got myself a Lenovo A1 Android for $179. Got Bluetooth and also GPS so you can also use it as a Golf GPS. Only drawback I have found is high power consumption in standby mode.
Used it yesterday as a golf gps easier on the eyes that a smartphone due to the 7" size.
Know it sucks for those of you that have iphone or Ipad already

From what I can see yes it is the same as fitting module You input different clubs. Stores your shot data for later use and reference

first bluetooth radio I have heard of that does not work with iphone. Thought that was the idea of bluetooth -connectivity. Any problems usually come from the bluetooth stack (ie software)
Can it be that the Bluetooth stack has to be changed and to do this they have to get their hands on the unit?

From memory bulk bluetooth radio chips are about $20......

In speaking with Foresight, it doesn't sound like the Apple app is ready yet. I was told it's still several months away. There has been an app on iTunes for several months, but all it purports to do is display what's already on the GC2 screen. It sounds like the app ultimately will have more functionality...probably something similar to the data from the fitting software...but it is still in development. My guess is you can negotiate a price lower than $500, but I think it would have to be waaaay below $500 before I would have any interest. As others have said, just hold your nose and buy an android device of some kind.

I can confirm the Android app has the fitting functionality.

At $179 a dedicated lenovo tablet is a good move, golf ball hits it or it drops, no weeping.

Hey, cpa, did you notice the wink following that sentence? Know what that means or ever thought of why someone might use one? Loosen up, get some thicker skin, and get a clue, dude.

    No
    No, too open to interpretation.
Might be good advice for my game.
    Thanks for the advice.

CPA, it was only meant as a joke, not an effort to start an apple/android flame war. If you don't mind me now asking, what is the lag time from hitting a shot until it appears on the screen of your mobile device?

CPA, did you opt for the protective cradle? If you didn't, every ball is going to find the launch monitor

Yes, protective cradle on the way too.

Murphy's law will prevail, cradle will not get a dent on it.
