How to choose a driver shaft?

I am totally clueless/overwhelmed on this process. I would like to get a new shaft for my driver. The current one is a stock titleist shaft that I was given as a freebie about 6 years ago, and is now in pretty rough shape. It has served me fairly well, but I think it's time for a bit of an upgrade. It no longer feels stable (and feels like its probably lost some of its stiffness) However, I have no idea where to start. There are way too many options out there for me.

Ideally, I don't want to spend much (50 bucks or so), and if I could find something that lowered by super high ballflight a bit, that would be great.

I hit my driver an average of 240-250, though more when I catch a good one. Hitting my irons, with s200 shafts, my 8 iron goes about 150.

If anyone could even point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated

Your best bet would be to get fitted but with a $50 budget I assume it is out of the question so one alternative is to read the following:

You need a tip stiff shaft with low torque.

Something like 4C2m on the playability factor

This one might be a good fit:
http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_MA0025 at $34.99 or see if you can find a quality pull out but remember it has to be untipped as most Titleists are bore through and do not require any tip trimming.
