Question Is the Finish Too High?

I saw this on the website and I'm thinking that the finish may be a bit too high.

    Any opinions?

I think it's his "stinger" shot. He does seem to love the Tiger.....

    These guys are funny.

Notice in the second shot how the ball is headed down the left side and fading back to the middle of the green?

    Steve,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but 20 yards left-to-right isn't called a fade anymore...

I wonder why he's in the rough on the right side in the first picture...

At 120 lbs. with a finish like that, you better make sure your shoes are tied.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

    Dan:
Great picture of Steve's ball skidding across the grass "burning worms".
BTW: You better clean your lense, there's a mark on it that's makes a bird seem to be flying across the pic.

The finish of the upper body in the first picture looks alright, however, what stands out to me is the position of the left foot. It has obviously twisted around to a position different from where it was at address. To me that indicates the possibility of an outside/in swing path. Stability and balance of the lower body is difficult, unless that left foot stays more flat on the ground.

In the second picture it appears that the left wrist is bent backwards on itself while the right wrist is convex, whereas, they should be the opposite.

This pic shows the wrists in better positions than above.

If, from this position, you were to drop the arms down until the upper arms made contact with your chest, it appears that the shaft would be in vertical position. Better is a diagonal position that runs from bottom left to top right, meaning that your hands are closer to your left side while the club head is closer to your right.

What is your normal ball flight, particularly with the longer clubs?

All are left to right fades. Nothing much to worry about as I hit enough fairways. With the lower irons I hit them higher than most of the guys I play with but with less fade. Fairly consistant but still loads of room to improve.

That last pic was on the driving and could also have been a punch shot into the wind if I recall that day.

There is nothing wrong with hitting a left to right shot, as long as it happens consistently. I think my dad hit every shot of his life this way, seldom missed a fairway, and began shooting his age at 74. I remember that day as he beat me by 1 and for the next 10 years never let me forget it.

The twisting of the left foot and the bend in the left wrist are indicative of a swing path from the outside and hands that are not ahead of the ball at impact. An inside path and hands ahead will result in shots that are both longer and with less curvature, however, there is obviously more than one way to play, and as long as you are hitting fairways and greens, having fun and taking money from your friends, so be it.

Check the positions of the 6 golfers in the link below. There are all the same in that the shaft covers the right forearm midway into the downswing and it is apparent that the club head will be coming into the ball from the inside. I particularly like Sergio Garcia's position because the club head gets significantly behind him in the downswing. The scholars on the golf telecasts would say that Sergio gets the club stuck behind him, however, these fine players were/are all very straight, accurate ball strikers. John Dunnigan's "Flattening Drill," helps to create this beautiful inside path.
