New to Ottawa
Hey everybody.
I just moved to Ottawa in September from Niagara Falls. Didn't get a chance to get out before the snow started to fly so I'm starting fresh this season.
26yrs old 1 handicap looking for some players to play with this summer and some insight on which courses are good to play for both value and experience.

If you are looking at public courses, the top courses are, in no particular order: Stonebridge, Equinelle, Loch March, Marshes (see I can be objective about the Marshes).
In the next tier of courses would be: Greensmere, Emerald Links, Anderson Links, Le Sorcier.
There are plenty of other courses to choose from as well. I've left the fully private courses off the list.
MY assessment is IMHO of course. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

you've come to the right place. jvincent has nailed it pretty good above - it can depend a little on what part of town you live in as to where you want to go but Dan has a good map on the featured courses page. btw, there is an arrange a game forum on here, if you are ever looking for a game just post in there if you want to find some playing partners. lots of great folks on here.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Welcome to the area !!!
as mentioined above all are the top courses. Depending on how far you are willing to drive some other must plays I would add to the list are:
Outaouais, Nation, Renfrew (Jvincent's tier 2 from list above)
Definitely lots of options !!Proud member of the 2012 OG vs TGN Ryder Cup winning team

Not sure how/why I forgot Outaouais from my list.
Like jeffc mentioned, some of this is area dependent and how far you are willing to drive. I'm downtown and my list is pretty much all within 30 minutes from my place. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

Thanks guys.
I was doing a little bit of research on courses. I live in the West End and Outaouais looks nice but it is like 45 mins away.
Most of those courses up the 417 west are pretty close tho.

Outaouais is definitely enough of a trek not to be a good everyday option if you are in the west end, but it's definitely worth getting out there once a year. I'm willing to go 'slumming' most of the time in order to get a decent number of games on my budget, but I try to get to Outaouais regardless, to remind me what golf can be.
As for courses in the west end. I'm a fan of Greensmere. Another that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Canadian, which I think is quite a fun track, and has a pretty sweet new practise facility.

if u r in the west end do not forget about Eagle Creek...its club link...but games there can be arranged...
outaouais...kanata lakes...greensmere (legacy course) are all good...but Eagle Creek is a solid test...
trust me u will love it...worth the few xtra dollars...
