Protee : How to setup machine vision cameras

Just wondering if anyone would mind working with me to test my online setup? I believe I have everything ready but my signal strength may still be suspect...At any rate, I though I could try it out and then I'll know if I am ready for 'prime time' !!

This will give you an idea of an hcam and vcam ball detection.

The curtain would be better in front of the golf bags so you only see the dark curtain in the background. I posted a pic of my vcam background as well so you can see what the curtain does. It is an older picture I saved a while ago so it looks a little different now (not so contorted). The first picture is for my camera device settings for the vcam. I have changed the vcam device settings to a frame rate of 40 and shutter speed of 25 with a gain of 3 as I found they gave me better wedge detection.

what is raster set at, frame rate and exposure, and sense. I have a very similar look of your v cam with golf bag in background, but when only the golf lights are on the bag can not be seen. Also I had a capture like yours in post 2174 , which I thought was good, but when I did an online with Protee they upped the raster to get a much fainter line. I had the raster slider all the way to the left. Protee told me that it takes much more computer resources to have the raster that low.

Your getting closer Bubs. What club was that. Judging by the length of the ball streak I would say a wedge? I can't see the ball streak in the first capture screen. Is it there? The ball is in the red box now which is good. Try using a frame rate of 60 and a shutter speed of 14-16 with a gain near or at 0.

Bubs, H-cam is not perpedicular to the target line. It's a little skewed. Also, you need to post the camera settings screen so we don't keep asking a lot of questions.

I have that very mount and do not like it with the housing that comes from pro tee. I can't get it tight enough so it does not move. I did tape it and still can't get it perfect. I sorry guys if this is too much , just getting really frustrated.

I would be surprised if you didn't get frustrated. This is the most difficult part of getting the simulator up and running. I ended up putting my hcam on my lighting track so I could slide it back and forth for adjustment. It is tricky but once you get the hcam setup you shouldn't have to adjust it again. I also put my projector on a sliding track for easy adjustment.

I have a 50w AR111 24 degree deflection bulb over the main sensor and a 75w Ar111 24 degree deflection over the putting sensor. I didn't need a 45 degree deflection bulb over the putting sensor as my lights are over 11 feet high.

Those settings from the "Camera Device" screen are for the H-cam. Use my V-cam settings for the V-cam. Use my H-cam settings for the H-cam.

Also, when testing the cameras, you need to select the club your testing.

Tell yourself that you are setting up a golf simulator. I will take a little frustration and save $10K over the GC2 any day. Trust me when I say this. There will be light at the end of the tunnel.

I think some of my frustration is not have the projector yet. So I make an adjustment climb down the ladder and go over to the computer monitor. like 10000 times.

the remote desktop will not fix my issues thus far correct?

As far as the background for the vcam, does it have to be black. There would be no way I can put a black curtain covering the wall opposite as that wall has a tv and the clubs. I do not want to go through the hassle of remounting the TV.

Nothing having a projector is going to be tough.

The remote support would help for sure. But first of all, you need to use the right settings for right camera. Then post screen captures so we can see what is happening. I only see minor problems.


The V-cam background does not have to be completely black. But darker is better. If bright areas or objects from the golf bag become a problem, then you will have to cover them up.

The H-cam is off center because my track lighting goes down the middle. so i mounted the camera to the side of that. The biggest problem I am having is getting the cameras setup up. Not the settings in the software the physical part. Just cannot get them so sit still on the mounts where they need to be. Also I only have 1 light up so far will that make a difference?

I did have a 75W spotlight mounted over the sensor pad but when I worked with the H-cam it seemed to completely white out the area so I could not see the ball. I then switched it to a 50 W and it seemed to look better. Is that bright enough? My ceiling height is only around 9 ft so with the light hanging down 8 1/2 feet. Also what bulb should I use for the putting area? The 75 flood as you recommended or less?

Bubs you have to get the cams mounted properly somehow. Until then, you will continue to have problems. You definitely need two lights. I have a 50w over the main sensor and it is 11 feet high so it should work for you. I would definitely use a 75w over the putting sensor area.

Bubs, you need to have both lights up and the cameras need to mounted good. I would recommend a 60-65w for the putting/ball light for your ceiling height.

Are you using the light fixture that protee sent? I have no clue how to set those up, I went with track lighting and a par 30 light
