    help building my SIM

Here in PA it was a nice winter but I want to start building my SIM in my garage for next year. I am most likely going with Optishot. I am going to put this in my garage, cause its the only room, that I can swing a driver in. Problem with that is I have situate my swing just right so I swing in between the garage door opener and the rails the door runs on. Now that I'm done rambling, what I need is some good ideas so that I can make my impact screen and netting removable. Put it on a curtain rod, hang it somehow. I am listening to all ideas and if anyone has run into similar situation if I could get some pics. I will post pics of my garage when I get home tonight.

Sounds like you should be Cory's first customer for his "standard kit"

    see this thread http://forum.ottawagolf.com/showthre...984#post435984

Optishot eh- I think subsequent posters will convince you otherwise.

Well it depends on what you can afford. If you can spend more then get higher end sim.

Only if they don't have a clue!
Optishot is by fare the best bang for the money.

Looking more for impact screen net set up. I would love
To get a setup from cory, problem is shipping is outrageous.
He has a sweet impact/net demo online now and it costs
    50 just to ship

And you complain about postage.....here in Oz it is double!

If that is the problem contact Cory as there may be cheaper postage options

Check out the "post your simulator pictures" thread. Check out RDH's pictures for a garage setup.

I have my setup in my garage. I hung my impact screen and netting on a curtain track with rollers. It is situated in front of my door opener and sideways across the front of the garage. It can take real golf balls.

The Optishot is a descent starter option as the next best option will cost you a couple of grand or more. The Optishot is easy to setup and put away after use.

Here are a few things that worked for me (although mine is in a bonus room, but it needs to clear mostly out of the way for my wife's quilting meetings):

    - Curtain rods sag too much. 1/2 inch gas pipes are cheap and sturdy in comparison
    - I used the cheapest king-size quilted comforters ($20, black) I could find for the side walls, and hung them on the pipes with home depot curtain clips. The push back into the corners of the hitting room. One blanket on each side, one over the top, 3 total behind the screen.
    - For the screen my so far best (V3) screen is a cream-colored acrylic king-size blanket. Held at the top corners by tarp clips fixed to chains fixed to the wall. The bottom is folded around a gas pipe wrapped in foam pipe insulation. Tarp clips about 4 inches from the bottom stretch the blanket sideways and are fixed with chains to the ends of the gas pipe. WARNING: if you fix the bottom corners to the wall in any way, you will have serious rebound issues.
    - For wall anchors, 300lb wing-its are the only ones worth using for this application. In ceilings, make sure you hit a stud, don't use anchors.

    Good luck!

I was in a hurry when I posted these. Inserted my son (6'0") for scale. Let me know if you would like detail pics.

Will take some after today's back stop revision project ;-) And when it is time to collapse it for my wife's next social evening, I will take some pictures in "neutral".

where did you get your curtain material? What is it? I looked at some Velour today that I think will work good.

If you mean mine, they are king-size comforters from target. I can't find any examples online, mine are simple, quilted, black, and were on sale in the store for $20 each. Can't ask my wife to sew for that.

    Does anyone have this issue?
In order to take a full swing properly I have to hit towards my garage door so I can work around the opener and the rails for the door. I have to put my net up so that I can keep it below the garage door rails. Has anyone solved the issue how to mount this,so that it is removable?

I have that exact issue, I installed a black iron pipe across the span of my garage (only 15' wide or so). Netting and impact screen is on curtain rings, slide into position, then out to park car. Pretty simple.

To keep screen/net taunt I have attached bungees on sides and when I pull it out to use I attach these to hooks installed on each side wall. Works great.

I have my setup is at the front of the garage in front of the garage door opener and perpendicular to it. I have about 12 feet width to work but both righties and lefties can hit in this area. My limits are the garage door rail above. My screen is 10 feet wide and I use bungie cords to keep it wrinkle free. It works so well that the ball drops from the screen after impact, then rolls back to my stance mat. I have about 21 feet length in which to work with. The garage dimensions are 20 x 21 feet. The sensor pad is 10 feet from the screen. My netting and curtain pulls out on curtain track similar to hospital curtain tracks. I can push in side closest to the garage door so the vehicle can park. I have a curtain rail (just in front of the garage door opener) that extends about 16 feet so I can pull a black curtain across the area to keep out light from the windows in the garage door and provide a dark background for the vertical launch camera. So far, it has worked very well for me.

If either of you have pics of this I would love to see them. I am starting to get the jist of what I need to do I just need to find the best way to drop a net to protect the ceiling from wedges.
