Better to have more depth or width in SIM setup?
I'm working with very specific space requirements. Is it better to have more width or more depth? I can configure my custom indoor cage to be:
- Very deep, but 10 ft wide (can I do L/R with this?)
or
- Very wide but would have to hit 10' away from screen
I'm considering ProTee and Foresight GC2. I understand many of the pros/cons of each SIM, but don't know if they are the same in terms of space requirements.
Really appreciate everyone's advice on this board. Thanks!

I would have thought 10 ft wide, but will defer to others

You can't do left and right handed swing with only 10 feet. Would be cramped for most with less than 16 feet.
Easy to test. Hang up some bed sheets or a tarp and see which distances you are comfortable with.

Yes you should be fine with any sim system besides a doppler unit with 10' from tee to screen. Certainly enough space for either the GC2 or the Protee. I've been as close as 6'!

Thanks for all your advice. Is it true that the screen should be 1-2 feet away from the wall? I've seen this mentioned on other threads, and if this is true, I'd be talking more like 8-9 ft from screen. Can I just put 3" of foam padding behind the screen or something like that?

Keep it 1-2 feet from the wall. You may get some bounce back with the foam and if it is too close to the wall.

Bubba22, do you recommend 2 feet from the wall for the impact screen with netting 1 foot between the wall and the screen? I'm also determining dimensions for a setup and what compromises I'll have to make between my dreams and my wallet - lol

If you are using practice balls like 'Almost Balls' you do not need more than 6" and no need for a net.

Net should be right behind the screen.

Thanks again ZMax, I plan on using real golf balls, so hoping 13'-15' from tee to impact screen should work OK.

Definitely have the net behind the impact screen for real ball use!

Thanks psace, I wasn't sure how far behind the impact screen should be behind the net. Looks like I should be good with net right behind the screen, about 1 foot away from wall and the tee area on the sensor mat about 14' from the impact screen.
