    2012 Pledge to Charities

    Birdied #5 at Prescott on both Saturday and Sunday.

    Guess I'll start it this year seeing as NoKids still has yet to get one this year .
    I'll even steal his format:

    3rd annual pledge to charities.

    $5 for birdies, $20 for eagles (or pick your own amounts to give). Last year's pledge had 20 participants, we recorded over 600 birdies/eagles and raised over $3,000 for Canadian charities. Click here for the 2011 thread. I assume the same players from last year will be returning.

    This is great guys. I had no idea what this was all about. My wife does something similar and she sells decorative ball markers to golfers and gives the money to the
    Canadian Cancer society for Breast cancer . Keep it up !!!

    This is the first time that I recall noticing this thread. Please count me in, though i will have to figure out what amount I will contribute for each birdie.

    Who will be issuing the charitable donations receipt? I ask because the answer is not apparent from reading this thread.

    Mike, this is on an honor basis, you keep track on here then contribute yourself to your own charity. I donated to the Diabetes Association and the Cancer society the last couple of years.

    This afternoon I played my first round (really a partial round) in Canada this year at The Highlands in Bradford. Through 13 holes (where I caught up with the field and called it a day) I had 2 bogeys, 9 pars, 1 birdie and 1 eagle. The eagle was a real surprise as I never eagled that par 4 hole previously. A driver and a 54* wedge onto the green and a role of some 8 feet into the cup did the trick. Who would have thunk it!

    This morning I played my first full round of 2012 in Canada at The Highlands. Much to my surprise I dropped putts from all over the place. Despite my usual inability to putt slow greens (these are very slow, which is not surprising given the time of year and the cold nights), I managed to luck out with 5 birdies. At this rate, I will use up all of my good fortune before the OGA handicap season even begins.
