    Shaft Extension

    Well, long story short....

I was in a rush to get my 5 iron reshafted before going to Florida, I picked it up and only realised once in Florida that the shaft they put in is the same lenght as the shaft in my 6 iron.

    - Can I add a plug to the shaft to make it a little longer
    - Should I add a plug or get it reshafted altogether?
    - What will I need to dot he job? (I already have the grip remover/installer)

    Help!

If all you need done is to extend it by a bit then you can use an extension, they sell them at Golfworks, or even an old piece of shaft. Just take the grip off and epoxy it in at the butt and you are good to to. You should have at least 1.5" of extension epoxied.

One thing to check is whether they put the correct shaft in. If they are stepped shafts you should see the distance from the hosel to the first step gradually increase from PW going to the longer irons. If it doesn't then they may have put a 6i shaft in it in which case your 5i is soft stepped once. This is probably not a big deal but I know it would piss me off.

If the shafts aren't stepped you can do the same check with the silkscreen that is usually on the bottom part of the shaft.

You shouldn't have to fight with them Seb, their customer service is usually top notch.

Okay, so I just checked the shaft, the 5 iron is definitely stepped higher yet when I stand them side by side, the two irons are the same length.. wtf?? I will call them tomorrow!

Sounds like they just cut it short. Not all clubs are the same length, so that could be the reason.

Did they have both halves of the original shaft or did you toss the top part after breaking it over your knee.

They had both halves because I forced them to reuse the grip since it was virtually new! And it wasn't over my knee, it was a club toss gong wrong!
