    Group Golf Trip

Been going to Tremblant for the last 8 years for a 4 day golf trip with a group of 12-16 guys usually at the beginning of June. Looking for ideas on somewhere different. We usually rent a house and do most of our own cooking so something along this line is ideal, but not a deal breaker. Although the courses up there are excellent and usually in fantastic condition I'm thinking it's time for something new. Recommendations? Within a 2-4 hour drive is really what we are looking for.

I went to Malone NY for a golf trip with a few groups in my 2nd year of golf. I don't remember much besides everyone praising it. It was kind of hicky and not much to do in the evenings but 36 each day was fun.

I was looking at Belleville, and I know the courses are awesome, but that would be an expensive trip! It's cheaper to go to Tremblant and the courses are just as nice. Was hoping to find something less expensive.

Malone is worth it--especially if it's all guys---Lake Placid if wives go. We have gone to Tremblant for 8 years in a row but getting very sick of their attitude--prices and conditions. Played both Malone and Lake Placid last year----60% cost of the same package in Tremblant.

As some folks said there is not much to do in Malone except golf-------the course is worth it--they have 2 18s. Accomodation is sparse--older motel style units Except the new Holiday Inn which of course is a little more expensive. The restaurant food was good and not expensive. As I said a good guys trip.

Lake Placid is about another 1 1/2 hrs but well worth it. There are 6 or 7 courses mentioned BUT only 3 worth playing in my opinion. The Whiteface course and the 2 Lk Placid courses. A couple of the others are a good distance away. As I mentioned earlier we took a fall package--the spring packages must be the same--2 full breakfasts--2 nights--3 rounds with cart---402.00 per couple The exact same thing at the same time at the Royal Laurention was 727.00 per couple. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the resort-it was the biggest one there----affiliated with the Lk Placid courses and has a big indoor pool as well.

There is plenty of "girl" shopping and lots of places to eat---nice location to get away with a bunch of friends.

BUT---don't book in full season---it is a TOURIST DESTINATION--look for before and after. I am not sure of the spring BUT in the fall it is between Labour Day and the "Leaf Peeper Season"

    Good luck

We have been doing lake Placid for the last 6 years, usually take 20-28 guys, The Crown Plaza is the one that is associated with the Lake Placid courses and that is where we stay. Courses are ok but like has been stated there is a good night life in Lake Placid compared to Malone. Its a great deal and a great place to stay

I do a trip with family every year, and we did Vermont one year. Very reasonable accomodations, great scenery, and course were decent.

We've been doing a Malone trip to start off the golf season each May for the past 20 years. Usually between 32-40 guys. They have a great setup for groups with package deals for golf and accomodations. The courses are both top notch. Derrek (head pro) is used to handling groups from Canada (Ottawa and Montreal mostly) and is very good to work with. We get dinners at the course for Fri and Sat. packaged into our deal. The food and service is great. The nightlife isn't what it used to be 10-15 years ago, but there are a couple of bars in town and casino is a short drive away.

You can talk to them at the golf show as they come up to Ottawa every year.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Saratoga Springs, we played The Sagamore ( just a little north near Lake George, good stop on the way down ) and Saratoga Spa golf course, there is a couple of more golf courses, both look pretty nice and I will golf at my next trip down, i've been down there in the fall while school is in ( there is a private college in town ) so good nightlife, I booked through New York Golf Trail, they may be able to do golf only and you might be able to find a house to rent, it is a rich horse town ( very big race track ), other destinations i have gone to are: Malone ( great golf, no nightlife ), Lake Placid ( OK golf, OK nightlife ), Huntsville ( great golf, good nightlife in season ), Niagara Falls ( longer drive, great golf courses, good nightlife )

I've done Belleville with the guys a couple of times already and the golf was great. In my experience, I didn't find it that expensive but I guess it would depend on your choice of accommodations (we stayed in a place on N. Front St).

We're looking at Tremblant for our annual weekend. We've never done Tremblant before. We're looking at Friday night through Sunday with two rounds of golf but it seems steep in price. How did you do it for a reasonable cost?
