I heard on the radio this morning that there has been 4 incidents as of late of a van trying to pick up young children. One in Kemptville, Cardinal, Smithfalls and Merrickville.. As a father this scares the crap out of me. Talk to your kids and make sure they are aware!

Street-proofing your kids should be done early and often. There is a fine balance between education and creating unnecessary fear. From experience many of these reports are without merit but better safe than sorry. Making your kids aware that not everyone is good like mom and dad (and grandpa and nanny) is just plain smart.
