Hope that you are right, but remember, we haven't had winter yet.

I wish I hadn't missed today, tomorrow's high is -4 and today would've been a perfect day to scratch the itch.

I'm thinking around the 25th March if the weather holds off. But like Lyle said, we havent had winter yet per say.Probably Casselview would be safe bet, Calabogie also.

Nation usually opens early as well, last year was a little late but usually it's within days of Casselview

Was talking to the people a week or so ago that own Mapleview and they haven't had a year in the past while where they didn't open in March and it usually dries out really good early.

I don't think we are going to get much more winter either. May be wishful thinking but I was in Toronto Friday and from Kingston to Toronto there is no snow. Melt melt melt!

Forgot about that one Gerry. Played it a few years ago opening day with quite a few OGers. Played with Paulio and Mattchew if I remember well. Another one on the list.

If this weather keeps up and we do get another winter blast...may not be good for the courses around here.

Kevin Haimes was not open. He will be open soon, probably before the end of this week.

Quinner (I was a super at a couple of local clubs and have turf education before you call me out ) This weather is not going to hurt the
local courses. The best thing about it is that the ice that is there is rather more like pellets which allows for the surface to breath. Even a large dumping of snow won't be the end all. The killer to greens, especially poa greens is ice. And most courses don't have an ice layer directly on the turf.

We may see a little snow mold because of the warmth but snow mold basically attacks the leaf and not the roots. So the turf may look
really bad as we get melting but it will be healthy underneath and will recover quickly with a good dose of phosphorous and nitrogen.

If I was still a super I wouldn't be to nervous about my greens, especially if they went to bed healthy.

But in saying all of that, Turf and our winters, you never know.

I dug through the foot or so of snow/ice on a couple of our greens yesterday and the ice layers are above the ground surface so most of us should be OK come spring time.

I was on ours yesterday as well and there is no ice touching the turf (about 4 inches up).

LOL - no worries Solstrum I won't challenge you THIS time!

That makes sense. I have been in FL for the last week and a half and will be anxious to get going when I get back tonight. Hopefully the recent snow won't last long and we can get'er going.

Accuweather long range shows a spring starts with a ..stretch of sunny warm weather (8-10) by March 13.

I'll guess Calabogie will be open on March 23rd

Very tempting for a Saturday mission. Called Prescott and a few courses in Kingston and they all have snow but are hoping with the warmer weather to maybe be open late next week.
