    Golf "street" shoes

    Yay or nay?

    Link

As long as they are comfortable, keep my feet dry and I'm not slipping all over the place; I will buy one of these in black/white.

The ones Fred Couples wears are hard on my eyes.

    i'd say yay,

i think they look good with shorts and seem comfortable. i wouldnt wear them for a morning round with the dew but middle of the day or at night i think they would be perfect. i've often thought about buying a pair of the truelinks. my buddy who is a pro swears by the ecco's.

I agree with the shorts thing. I don't think they look great with pants, but Ecco's are some of the most comfortable shoes for me regardless of the model.

    YAY!

Just picked up two pairs of the truelinks:

The other pair are the same style the grey pair with the blue bottoms...seems as though they are sold out now.

Picked up the Adidas Street and tried them out in Mexico last week.

Worked great on the dry ground, very comfortable and look awesome.

I have a pair of Ecco's and they are the most comfortable golf shoes I have ever owned but as mentioned not great in wet weather , I wear my Footjoys if the conditions are moist.

Bought 2 pairs of the Ecco Casual Cool II in the Gore-tex model and they are by far the best shoes I have ever worn. They are kind of a hybrid between a street shoe and a classic golf shoe so they look great with shorts or with pants and having the gore-tex in the spring and fall is awesome for keeping the feet dry.

Just bought a pair in the States, great price figured I would try them out. So far I love them. I got the Oakleys, they feel great and so far no slipping which is what I half believed would happen. I've rarely walked off a course without some minor foot issues. Played 3 rounds so far in these shoes and no issues at all. I think they look great as well.

I tried the Ciphers on but they didn't feel right on my foot. Tried on the less expensive Flagsticks and I loved the feel right away. Bought them, wore them to the range and then to the course. I have played 1 round in Florida with them but that was all cart. Played 2 rounds here at equinelle walking and I really like them. They are less like and athletic shoe and more like a comfortable everyday shoe. I have worn them in dry and moist conditions with no slipping. If it was really wet or raining I would likely go to my Footjoys.

Yup, I'm with you. I have Footjoys now and I like them... But seems that the more walking I do nowadays the more my feet ache afterwards. I'd really like to try a pair, they look light and cool (not warm) ... but I feel like I need more support (Footjoys) not less. A very flat shoe would be great if I could walk down the middle of the fairway or be on the cart path 75% of the time but that's not my game, unfortunately. Would like to hear from a "mature" player that has these "age" issues and see what they think.

I have been wearing 'classic' golf shoes for many years and started having problems with my left foot last year. I just purchased a pair of the Ecco shoes, similar to what Fred Couples and Matt Kuchar wear. Wore them once and liked them but did not help my foot problems. I recently went to get checked and was fitted for orthotics, they said I had one leg slightly shorter than the other, well after 60+ years guess I have more body parts shrinking than I thought. Anyway I tried the new shoes with the orthotics and no improvement, in fact worse than before. The place where I got the orthotics do not recommend these type of shoes because of the lack of support in the heel and sole. I still like them for their light weight and feel, but looks like they may not be for me.

About 5-6 years ago I was fitted for new orthotics. Took about 6 pairs of shoes in and specialist said the best shoes I had were the golf shoes. That's why I'm reluctant to go with style over comfort and support.

Our pro recommends a shoe with a lot of support if you walk a lot on the course and carry. I also have had orthotics for 12 years and wear
shoes with a lot of support because of this.

Well after 12 rounds my street shoes are very comfortable. My feet aren't squirming towards the end of the round like they did with my traditional golf shoes. It feels like I'm just taking a walk. Nice.

Love the two pairs of True Linkswear that I have. I agree that they don't look the best when wearing shorts, but when I can walk 36 holes in a day and my feet don't ache at all, I don't really care too much about the looks. Comfort over looks for me.

I just got the footjoy contour casuals about 2 weeks ago and they are so comfortable. My foot was literally bruising under the ball of my foot when I was wearing my footjoy contour shoes.
I think I could literally walk 36 holes and still finish pain free.

Only problem I am having is that after 2 weeks and less than 10 rounds, the tread is already showing some wear. Most notably on the outside of both feet. I hope it's just initial wear because if it continues at this pace I would need new shoes before the end of the year which is just rediculous.

Anybody else have this same wearing out problem with other brands of street shoes?

It's not like I have many options given my very wide feet but would be good to know how long they should be lasting.

I just picked up a pair of FootJoy Streets to keep in the car as my second pair.

They come with removable spikes, which is nice. They look like leather Converse All-Stars and were pretty comfy at the range. We'll see how they hold up on the course.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I've got the 2012 version of the true links tours , and I'm also noticing that the grips are starting to wear , but they are by far the comfiest golf shoes I've ever owned.
I got them on clearance at GT and I'll buy another pair for sure , if I get 1-2 seasons out of them , it was well worth it

Just returned my True Links tours last week. Very comfortable shoes - especially for my EEE wide pontoons - but after 1 year into a 2-year waterproof guarantee I was tired of having soaking wet feet after 3 holes every round where I tee off before 8:30 am. They still did better that the True Links Sensei I bought in early August - they did not even last 1 round into a 2-year waterproof guarantee.

For me the ultimate golf shoe would be a spikeless "street" golf shoe available in a wide size that is truly waterproof for 2 years. Unfortunately that shoe has not been invented yet...

I've used the Adidas all summer and they are damn comfortable and light. The ones I have are nylon so I can only wear them after the dew is off and no rain in forcast - but when I do wear them they are also cooler on the feet.

Just to re-launch an old thread , I bought the 2014 version of the Truelinks dry/lite shoes and sadly returned them today after the sole started to come away from the side of the shoes.
In addition to this the rubber soles where much softer this version and wore out really quickly , less than 20 rounds on them and they where almost done.
I e-mailed the customer service and got a pleasant and thankful response from them , but it's turned me off this brand for the time being.
I have a nice replacement in ECCO golf street shoes which hope will fair better.
