Importance of butt frequency...
My question is, how important is it?
I got some new clubs matched to my old set (just lies and lofts) and for sh*ts and giggles the guy frequencied all of my clubs.
Now, he was applying club length and frequency to a RIFLE chart and gauging the "stiffness" of each club (ex. 7.0 is extra stiff, 6.0 is stiff, etc). Irons were all pretty similar.
Where it started to get weird was in my longer clubs. Driver didn't even register, ie. >8.0. Fine, no problem. Three wood registered a 7.8. Again, fine. My Adams hybrid, however, came in at 4.4.
Question to the club techies....am I right in thinking that that's WAY too soft, or are there other factors at play here?
Thanks in advance for any information.

My two cents, is it is not that important, at least to me anyway.
Total weight and flex profile, i.e. how the stiffness changes along the length of the shaft, are more important to me.Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

What shafts are in your irons and what was the RP chart designation on them ?
It dosen't make any sense to me that there was no reading on your driver. What is the driver/ shaft combo and 3w ?
How well do you hit the hybrid compared to the other clubs ?

What were the actual frequencies measured and what machine and clamp length did they use?
If you hit it well and are happy with your ball flight I wouldn't worry about it too much but if its something that's on your mind now maybe try a different shaft and see how it changes things. If 4.4 is too soft for your swing there could be distance, accuracy and consistency gained.[FONT=System][COLOR=DarkRed]

In my irons I have tour issue x100s. They had a range of 6.8 to 7.2.
My driver is a 909D2 with a Fujikura ZCom TW84x. When I mean it didn't measure, it was over an 8.0 (as far as that particular chart went). My 3w is a Titleist 910 with a Diamana Ahina x-flex, and that measured 7.8.
As far as how I hit my hybrid - not bad, but for sure has a tendency to go left. I was trying some others and even the same shaft (in a newer club) the results were noticably different.

You basiclly are using telephone poles for shafts ! Ya might want to look in to getting something a lit..tle.... bit stiffer to compliment your swing.
Then again, Fred Couples used one of his wive's 5w for quite some time !!

It could be very soft in the butt and very stiff in the tip. Butt measurements are pretty meaningless unless you stay within the same brand. Clubmakers have moved to shaft profiling. Different measurements are taken at various locations along the length of the shaft all the way down to 11 inches
See the following for more details
