Does Tiger believe in himself anymore?
With every close call, Tiger Woods convinces more of the doubters that it's only a matter of time before he hoists another trophy.

Yeah he believes in himself. My opinion is he has a vendetta thing going on, where he feels a deep and driven need to demonstrate to all those who railed against him during troubled times that he is much much more of a human being than was stated, particularily by the media. During his epic rise to greatness he (and his father) mapped out goals which I think became ingrained into Tiger. Part of his success, part of achieving those goals are his synergy with the galleries created by astonishing speed, power, shot-shaping. He likes to awe his audiences, he is an entertainer in that sense. When he gets into the lead he takes more risks to provide a show of domination to the crowds because in his mind this is what elevates him as a human being and therefore is what will redeem him to his old status as a golfing titan. This is when you see all the pulls left into the rough and shooting a score of 70 or more, whereas if he had just remained on cruise control and gone for consistency it would have been a 64-68 score. When he is putting badly he is an accurate driver because he HAS to be. That is the structure of his internal course management process, just like everyone else; use what's working to help counterbalance what's not working. So ironically, by attempting to bring back his former glory and trying to demonstrate that he is a superhuman golfer, he will come in 2nd a lot to the guys who play within their means. One comment that he made after his round was interesting: He was confused that his 3 wood was playing 320 and his 8 iron was "a buck 80" at one point. But compare the difference en route to his 66 on Saturday to his 72 on Sunday. The difference was he wasn't setting himself up for hunting pins, he was trying to play a game of dominance over his newcomer partner to intimidate him with raw power. Rock, however awed he was at playing alongside his golf idol, invariably played his own game. Seems Tiger should have done the same considering the 6 that Rock took on #18.

Tiger's going to have a meltdown if he doesn't win soon. Toss his bag in the lake or something. It's going to be John Daly x100. Might get a billion views on youtube. The end is nigh!
You only get out of something what you put into it
