What is your opinion of the usefulness of the unit without the target line fix?

I saw the targetline issue straight away and with the sb1 moving I decided not to do tests. Accuracy is crucial.
SB claim it is consistent so we live in hope.

It was in the drop down menu but could not be selected so no. It was then removed completely.

Swingbyte App now in iTunes. Targetline is unlikely to be in it. Will be interested what everyone thinks of the video component.

Apparently they are making their way to the distribution centre through customs. I did not know there was customs between China and HK. That is where SB1 was sent from with a $30 declared value so no duty. Wonder if they have changed the distribution structure.

Sold my SB1 and pre-ordered a SB2
With the loyalty discount, I am getting the SB2, for basically the shipping charge + taxes.
Hopefully, the attachment system will be better.

Just an update for Aussies. SB say they are arranging an Australian distributor but in the meantime buy it from the playbetterstore. Shipping to OZ is $28 but GST and distribution fee saving means it will be the best deal.
Cory what is your shipping cost to OZ?

Hey CPA,
That is through UPS - which we prefer as they are more reliable.
I checked with Canada Post and you can get it for:
$10.82 Small Packet Ground (which is uninsured and non-trackable)
$20.79 Small Packet Air (which is uninsured and non-trackable)
$44.31 International Parcel Surface (insured and trackable)
PS: I don't mark up the shipping costs, they are direct quotes from UPS
Cheers,
Cory

Swingbyte seems like it would be a nice tool, however i am having problems with mine. First few days using it on the driver it was pretty accurate putting it against my foresight.
However now I am trying it on my 3 wood and even irons and it shows I am pushing EVERYTHING to the right. At least 5-10 degrees. When I hit a shot to the right, the Foresight is saying its a 2-4 degree push if that. There were times the foresight says I hit it to the left and the SB still says its a push to the right.
I am going to email their tech support and see what they say. Anyone have any ideas on this? Is this a known issue?

Sounds like the gyro may be locked up or the alignment may need to be recalibrated.
Is this the Swingbyte or Swingbyte 2?

Possibly a new bug - let's see what tech support says.
I hope one day that they will do a calibration like SkyPro (see about 1:30 of this video):

I would put it on 7 iron. Make double sure it is aligned to clubface and calibrate it.
SB works by using clubface at address as targetline. Bet you did not know it but you address with clubface open.

I was trying it on an 8 iron, but ill try it on a 7 iron. It is very possible I sit at address with a slightly open face. But if I come through the ball with a straight dead face, wouldn't the resulting stats from the swingbyte say at impact the ball path would go straight and not a hard push to the right?

I ignore the shot shape completely- it is clear SB have not placed a great deal of time in this at the moment. My view is they need to remove that and only put it back when targetline fix is done and they get spend some time to get some ball flight laws correct.
With a GC2 you do not need it.
I look at the path and clubface numbers on SB2 to see if it adds up to the azimuth, spin and shot shape on the GC2.
I keep saying we can only get a view of accuracy when the targetline fix is done. Even if you mark a line to square clubface at address on your mat there is no way of knowing if the SB software has logged this as the starting point of the swing.
I have recently contacted SB about video not being in sync or even capturing. The response was the ball MUST be in the round circle when you commence swing, otherwise sync will not be good. This gives me the impression that SB uses the iPad as a line scan camera to commence video rather than looping it in memory and using the SB2 ball impact trigger. Gives me hope they will get the targetline fix done at some point.

Johnny
That would be a big call. Even TM, Flightscope and GCT HMT have critics.
Remember this is $150 of kit compared to these launch monitors 100 times the price. I think the only way of measuring would be the Taylormade Lab and that would cost you a penny. There is also shaft bend......
That said Swingbyte is the only of these club fitted devices that requires you to input each of your clubs exact lie and loft angles and shaft length. That has to make a difference if the data is used correctly rather than a generic number used by others.
The targetline fix can only improve the accuracy. Tried the beta this morning briefly but had to attend to something else. In the short test the new attachment and targetline has improved it but there are a few bugs that need to be ironed out. I had an app freeze, bluetooth dropout and issues with the representation of follow through, so got frustrated as well. What I did see I was impressed with but further testing requireed.
I am sure if you ask any SB salesman they will vouch for the accuracy!

Hopefully the target line really improves accuracy because from what I am seeing thus far, I am less than impressed. Will wait on a review until after the target line is released.

Had another play with both SByte and SkyPro last night. Shaft plane is def influenced by shaft lean at address: the more shaft lean the more both devices overestimate crossing the line at the top. I corrected the issue by rotating the device clockwise on the shaft - then tested with video until SB and SP shaft direction aligned with what I was seeing on video. Both work well when manually calibrated to your own shaft lean.
If you are not too interested in impact data, I would say SP is the better device because of the "groove" function. If you want impact data, I guess it all depends on how accurate the SB data is???

GM do you mean lean or face angle. Both devices know which way is up. The SB2 target line fix may fix your issue. Did you check/compare the SB video to graphic. Not impressed with the SB2 video?🍔
