New Curved Simulator Screens from High Definition Golf.

It says High Definition Golf will be displaying their NEW Curved Simulator Screens at the PGA Show.
It says it will give you a total feeling of immersion.

I wonder how different the feeling would be from a traditional flat screen???

I am going to to make a curved screen. Tried to temp set my screen up with a curve, radius of the distance to to projector. Really liked it.

Now that I wanted to change the screen anyway I have ordered materials for a 12 foot wide screen got 9 1/2 feet right now.

Played around with tilting the screen a little back on the top which worked really nice with the simulator but did look a little strange when watching movies.

Aren't these impact screens flexible enough to be curved anyways? Seems like you would just need a curved support to hang it from.

On the hardware/software side, I feel like the software renderer would need to increase its FOV (field of view) setting (horizontally). The projector itself would need to shrink its image to fit on the now less-wide screen (due to the curve). Are there flaws in my thinking here?

Yes you are right all that is needed is that the support allow the screen to be setup in a curve.

The screen length is longer on a curve that a flat screen of the same width!

If you want anything like a 120 degree view you will need 3 projectors.
I liked the curved screen also for movies, just gave a feeling of more depth in the picture.
On the AVS forum you can find more information on software renders for curved screens.
