Good Golf in VA

May be traveling through Viginia in late March and have time for a round of golf.. Any reccomendations? We will be staying close to i81 so nothing to far east.

The best course in the Fredericksburg area is Cannon Ridge just west of I81 on highway 17.
A little further north on I81 is another nice one Augustine. If you want further info PM me.
My son live is Fredericksburg and we get there at least three times per year. In fact I may be there in late March. Maybe we can get together.

Just got back from a quick tour down to Alabama. After the first days drive to Harrisonburg, we played the following courses en route. Day 1 Hanging Rock in Salem just outside of Roanoke. Great course and senior rate is $24 with cart. Then the next day we played Clear Creek Just outside of Bristol Va. $30 with cart, and another tough mountain course. The next day we played the Bear Trace at Harrison Lake TN. It's a Jack Niclaus course and worth the $30 with cart. On the return trip we played a good little course along the 81 at Draper VA called the Draper Valley golf club. In really good shape and it was $35 with cart. So those are my recommendations along the I 81. And if you are going that far continue on down to Alabama and play some of the Robert Trent Jones courses. But give Silver Lakes a bye. It got hit by a tornado last year and lost 40,000 trees. It has gone from a forested course to a wide open links course.
