Thread: Trugolf Technique

Hey Dirk,
Sorry to hear you are having some problems, sounds like it just may be the connection from the trutrac to the computer (cable and/or serial adaptor). It is also possible that the driver file may have become corrupt.
Best bet is to email the TruGolf Tech Support first, then while you wait, try to test the cable, serial adaptor, and reinstall the driver and/or test on another computer.
Hope that helps,
Happy Golfing!
Cory

While you are waiting to hear back from TruGolf and if you haven't already done so, try to unplug and power down everything and then hook everything back up again like you are installing it from new again. I have found that sometimes restarting things can work. I hope it works but if I had to guess I would bet that the sensor board is bad

Hi Cory,
Thanks for your response, I am in talks with Michael from TRUGOLF, but he hasn't responded to my latest messages.
I don't think it is the serial cable, because the software picks up that the board is connected on startup. I have tried it again this morning. Reinstalling the software but still no luck.
How do I reinstall the drivers?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks
Dirk

Hi kwass,
Thanks for your assistance, I have done so a few times but still no luck. I have a suspicion that the sensor board is bad too.
I am waiting to hear from tech support, but the board should still be under warranty (Purchased in Dec 14).
I will try on a different computer today as well
Thanks

HI, Me again.
I went into the TRUGOLF folder and into the tracking folder. Double clicked on application called: Optical Sensor and it gave me the following error. Port COM3 does not exist.
Do you have any idea what I need to do to fix this? I am not very strong with computer hardware/drivers etc..
Thanks

Does your sensor board connect to your computer via a USB cable? If so try hooking it up to a different USB port on your computer. I move my Sim around a lot and when I plug it into the wrong port it doesn't work. Very small chance that it will work but worth a try

Hi,
yes it has a serial to usb connector. I will try that - Could static issues have caused this? Should I spray the static spray now or will it not help?
thanks

Hi, just thought I would let you know. Trugolf support assisted me last night and everything is sorted. The cpu on the motherboard shifted and I just put it back into place.
thanks for all your help

Accuracy video with custom built system
Been a while, but have been busy getting somewhere.. Finally found and leased large commercial space.. 3600 Sq/ft in Rochester, NH soon to be known as Fore Fabrication.. First finished sim built as a working prototype marketing locally for some lucky golf nut..
Next the all important golf studio/showroom with a BIG curvy sim!!

xdreamgolf,
I have a TruGolf Signature Unit and have experienced this issue on multiple occasions. There are generally two main causes of this: (1) The processor attached to the bottom of the hitting mat (it's a black square with a number on it) coming loose from the circuit board, or (2) static building up and frying the entire board.
Sometimes you can fix issue (1) by simply pushing the processor back onto the board with your finger.
In my experience you cannot fix issue (2). In this case you have to get a new board. Static is common during the winter and using anti-static did not help me much. I've had to replace my boards four times (note I have left and right handed hitting mats in my setup and had to change out each of them twice).
I hope this helps!

Hi, Apologies for the long wait.
So after I managed to jiggle the CPU in place and everything worked for a while it happened again, but this time the acoustic sensors worked which made me think it is not the processor. I changed USB cables and port connections to no avail.
I took it to a motherboard specialist here in Cape Town and he checked all the sensors for me and four of them were out of order. After ordering the parts from China and a very long 8 week wait everything works again!
It is seen as a portable sim, but in my opinion not very durable since you are constantly bashing the sensor board as you are pounding 7 irons down the "fairway".. This will definitely cause the wiring or parts in the sensor board to shake loose.
My solution - I am going to try and "fix" the position of my sim to reduce possible micro movements in the 3rd garage and use it for recreational purposes for now.
I am worried about static buildup and not sure how to prevent this. I have mine setup on a concrete floor at the moment.
Thanks
Dirk

Thanks for your post Dirk.
When we do fundraisers, the static is usually really bad so we spray 'Static Guard' on the floor and stance mat (obviously not on the sensor).
I just did a quick google search for an example:

Hope that helps.
Happy Golfing!
