Ottawa Golf v. TGN Ryder Cup Event - 2012
It's now 2012. When do we start planning this year's event? I know one aging golfer who wants to play!

And a Happy New Year to you as well, John. As for being early, with this crew you have to strike early. Some guys needs many months to plan ahead and even then it doesn't appear to be enough time.

.........Update.........
We're booked at Trillium Woods for June 2, 3 for 40 golfers (two
teams of 20).
Here are the tee time blocks:
SAT 8:25- 9:42 & 1:40-3:10
Sun 9-10:20
Book your time off Gents , we have a confirmation.
As per previous years , Last years team get first refusal , however there will be 1 major change regarding handicaps .
You must have a tracked handicap or you will not be allowed to play in the event , no more ," roughly " , " previously " or " thereabouts "
This makes it fair for everyone attending ,from both teams, and will make it a better event for all.
You will be responsible for your own hotels/b&b this year , the block booking deal last year , was nothing special .
So i encourage everyone who will attend to start searching for deals .
All last years team will receive a pm asking if they will attend , but it is early January , so don't go getting all exicted too soon .
I'll open up the OFFICIAL REGISTRATION THREAD soon .
Also we'll need a team captain , open to previous attendees only .
Any thoughts , or comments are very welcome , this is a team event , so please post
Spring can't come quick enough now , see you all soon ,

I'm looking forward to this event as well. If you haven't been a captain of the team, you should give it a try. It's rewarding even when you lose. Don't worry about not having done it before. There are plenty of us who have, and who could provide you with advice.

I may step back up to the plate and wear the "C". Let me discuss with the Mrs and I'll get back. Been away from this event for too many years now considering I was one of the minds behind the creation of this event!!!!

Basically we need everyone to track their handicap , using their current method . And those who do not have a handicap , need to start tracking it prior to the event by either the RCGA or another handicap system (it does not have to be RCGA approved)
I'm currently using the free software that is available on the Ottawagolf website , this or something similar is sufficient.
Basically , we need to make it fair for everyone who plays .The last couple of years , we have had people turning up and playing at the last minute , who have helped out with the numbers , but were playing off handicaps that were nowhere near their ability . This is what we are trying to avoid ths time around , if your a 17 handicap as per the tracked stats , then you'll be playing as a 17 handicap , etc , etc.
In previous years we have capped the max handicap at 15 , but if your a shot or 2 above it , we'll make an exception. At the end of the day ... It gets dark

Thanks. The reason I asked is because I do have a factor of 6.4 listed on the RCGA website, but it's basically inactive because of my involvement with the NCGT. I haven't posted an "official" round in over 3 years as a result. All of my NCGT rounds have been tracked since day one on our system, which uses an RCGA approved software, but our tour scores aren't valid for RCGA because of our "tip up" rule, and I played a lot of weekend "skins" at Meadows, which isn't an RCGA member course.
Please put me on the list
My NCGT handicap is 12.3When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Absolutley , if your comitting to playing , i'll be taking the deposits from everyone .
Like last year , if you pay and then decide to back out , you'll be responsible for getting another player , cut off date will be approx 4 weeks before the competition , then your locked in (health or personal issues will be the only exceptions).
Deposit will be $100.At the end of the day ... It gets dark

Obviously you're not a golfer.

Put me down as a strong maybe Will. I may not go to Myrtle this year so this could be me guy trip. Of course I'll get in line behind the others from last year, etc.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I fear it's been too long since my last visit to Belleville... I may need to fix that in 2012 if there is room.
Let's put a Smile on that Face!
