    Golf Balls and Simulators

Just kinda throwing this stupid question out there.

But is the type of golfball you are using noticeable on the best simulators/range finders?

I just bought the gc-2 system, and was curious to see if I could see a noticeable distance / spin change when using different types of golf balls.

Just wanted to here from experience.

I would think with the GC2 you would be able to detect different spin since, on a course for real a 2 piece ball is going to play differently then say a pro v1x. When it comes to spin. But I do not have a GC2 so can't speak from experience.

The theoretical answer is "yes it would detect the difference." Because it does it based on launch picture comparison. In practice, I think it would be difficult to find anyone we know who hits the ball with predictable enough spin rates to measure this. My one-sigma on sand wedges is in the hundreds of RPMs.

Yes, ball quality makes a huge diference on the gc2 data. I could hit an old ball 20 yards shorter with the same 8 iron and same swing compared to a new better quality ball.

I just did a search, and realized this has been covered in a review, but thanks for the info Micho...

Will certainly buy a few types and see the results when I get the unit.

He mentions using range balls vs p1x's and some more in depth between bridgestone and titelist balls....
