Go to the speciality electronics stores like the Bleekers, StereoPlus, etc. who have the knowledgeable staff and get the information, knowledge and recommendations from the experts. Then go to BB, FS, etc. if they're cheaper. I would not rely/trust the big box stores for technical info and recommendations so do your homework before going.

and whatever you do, DON'T buy any overpriced cables or extended warranties from them.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

    .

Again, agree whole-heartedly. But I'd add a step. Then go back to the Bleekers, StereoPlus stores, now that you have a price in mind and see if they'll budge. My guess Bleekers will. No decision like an informed decision. All this chatter has even got my wife talking about a new tv. Don't see anything wrong with my 50's era B&W Crosley, although the tubes are getting harder to find...

LED's are brighter and save electricity. The price difference is not much these days.

I bought a Sony Bravia LED on Boxing day. Went in for an LCD but the price difference was nominal between them with the sales so I went with the LED. Thanks for all of the help guys!

Funny to read this thread as I had the same issue a few months back. Decided on 55 inch LED from Samsung. Nice.
I'll upgrade in a 3 years when 100 inch TVs are under $3K.

Late to the party but Steroplus is awesome. Their extended warranty actually makes sense, I think it cost me $150 for 5 yrs which included delivery and setup.
