New Orleans
Thinking of going to New Orleans in February for a technical training course.
Questions
1- Is the weather warm enough for golf in February?
2- Any suggestions for Golf Courses close to New Orleans?"Only one man in a thousand is a leader of men...

You can definitely play golf in the Gulf area in February. In fact, I spend the winter on the Gulf in Alabama and we play golf every day through January, February and March. Have fun.

Why play golf when you can be enjoying the French Quarter?

Of course, but what about the day time?

Thanks for the Normal Temps, strong49. Looks good enough for golf.

I have nothing against golf. I will play over 200 rounds this coming year. But New Orleans is a unique city that should be fully enjoyed. Its charm extends well beyond the night life on Bourbon Street. The French Quarter in particular and New Orleans in general has a lot to offer both during the day and at night. In fact, many of its sites are best seen during the daytime. In addition to the many museums, galleries, cafes, restaurants, bar and architectural points of interest, the tours should not be missed. In to the Oak Alley Plantation Tour, I would recommend the Katrina/City tour, which provides a broad overview of the history of the city itself as well as a more in depth look at the effects of this flood on various areas, but most especially on the Lower Ninth Ward. Whatever decision you make, you should have a good time in N'Awlins.

If you like seafood, then try this spot: http://www.gwfins.com/nola/ The food and service are excellent. One of our great disappointments has been the rather mediocre restaurants in the city. Despite all the hype, and the accolades give to many of them (which we visited), the food was only so, so. However, GW Fins is a delicious exception. I have no doubt that there are many more, but we are still searching them out. After three trips there in about a year and a half, most have been overly salted and uninteresting. One place where you will not be disappointed, though, is Cafe Du Monde. Their beignets are sumptuous.
