Ignoring an Entire Forum?
Is there any way to ignore threads from an entire forum, specifically the simulator forum? It seems that forum is getting more active as the golf season winds down, and I'd rather not see any of the topics listed when I check for new posts.
Aside from adding everyone who posts in that forum to the ignore list, I can't seem to find an option for it.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

There is a feature in vBulletin to do this since another forum I read has it enabled. That forum is still running 3.8.6 but I assume the feature still exists in 4.x.x.

Just went through the documentation - no mention of this functionality. The other forum may be using a plugin mod.

I'll ask how it's implemented.

No problem.
Of course, today is the day that the server migration on the other forum decided to get borked so the admin is rather busy at the moment. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

It should be pretty easy to get rid of them using client side scripts.
I'd bet given the popularity of vBulletin there's already a grease monkey script. If not - and Dan can't set it up on the server side, I can throw some time into writing a little client side plugin to zap whatever you want.NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

Alright guys - I have written a grease monkey script that will allow you to hide specific forums in the "new posts" section.
I'll be posting it under "General" this afternoon/evening (after work)NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)

Dan, in case you want to implement something forum wide, I was pointed to the following:

As I figured it's a plugin not a native feature. Sorry but we won't be installing that.

The "ignore a certain forum" option is not part of the VBulliten forum software we use here on OttawaGolf.com
A script (known as a 'plugin') has been written by an enthusiast and posted on a popular Vb script forum that I could install on the foum server that extends VBulliten to enable that option.
For many years I installed such "Plugins" but I have sworn off of them due to the developers of said scrips not keeping up with updates to the forum software, rendering them useless or restricting the upgrade path so that we retain a plugin's funcionality. iTrader was just such a victim of the unsupportd plugin problem. There were several other forum features that ended up being abandoned as well.
Therefore I "just say no" to plugins.
Nat has offered to create a script that users can use on their end to do the same thing for those who really want the feature.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

I've posted a new thread over in general:
http://forum.ottawagolf.com/showthre...g-Greasemonkey
I wasn't able to make the script an attachment, but details on how to make the file are provided (all source code posted)NCGT Ryder Cup Team Green (06,07,08)
