    Height of Tees

Is there a regulation on how high or long your tees can be when hitting off of the tee-box? I thought there was no height restriction, but have heard differently recently. Thanks.

Recently, the Rules of Golf were changed by prescribing a height restriction for tees. The following passage appears in the Definition section of the rules:

    Tee
A “tee” is a device designed to raise the ball off the ground. It must not be longer than 4 inches (101.6 mm) and it must not be designed or manufactured in such a way that it could indicate the line of play or influence the movement of the ball.

    Hope this helps.

    From Section II - Definitions

"A“tee” is a device designed to raise the ball off the ground. It must not be longer than 4 inches (101.6 mm) and it must not be designed or manufactured in such a way that it could indicate the line of play or influence the movement of the ball."

    It relates to Rule 11-1
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

According to the USGA website, tees cannot be longer than 4 inches.
