    Question WXGA short throw sim projector - insight?

    Looking at a short throw projector in WXGA for 16:10. Found one. Curious if others are using different ones that are any better.

    Optoma GT750-E $780
    * 3k lumens
    * ~3K:1 contrast
    * @ 9' 1" displays image of 12.9 ft wide x 8ft high with 12 foot lumens / sqft
    * can do 16:10 native, 4:3, and 16:9
    * accepts 720P / 1080P and displays in 720P
    * accepts 1080P 3D and displays in 720P 3D (need to verify this marketing)
    * 2 HDMI inputs

    Want to be able to display blue rays also but in 720P via 16:9 aspect ratio.

    Thanks.

    i was new to using forums when posted. this topic is moved to the HD projector thread. BTW received the gt750-e 3k lumen 3k:1 contrast WXGA 1200x800 in 16:10 and the vdeo is great - produces a very nice picture 9x14.5 in 16:10 (offers 4:3 and 16:9) with no screen door effect this large from a throw inside 12 feet. also accepts 1080p 3d and displays in 720p 3d.

    This is great information. I will be visiting the PGA show in Orlando and selecting a system, but from what I see things like projectors and computers are constantly evolving and the latest is often not included in sim packages.

    i started this thread before i realized there was a HD projector thread. take a look at that thread. a few of us had more discussion on the optoma gt-750-e. at of all my components this far exceeded my expectations. its great.

    you are right, when i talked to most resellers and sim companies the projectors they were selling were not as good and more expensive because the technology curve is constantly changing and it looks like this past year has been a huge improvement.

    Take a look at BenQ they have several Short Throw projectors - I have the MP516ST I think - use it for my home theater room - uses HDMI input - it is NOT HD but converts to SD - however - at 144" diagonal the quality of picture is unbelievable - use it for Movies, XBOX 360 and OptiShot. All of this for $500!
