    Smile course opening

    Hey Dan
    Everyone knows that Rideau Glen in Kemptville is always the first course open every year. Again this year we are .

    We opened on Sat March 16th. There was about 50 avid golfers out on sunday.I hope all the courses wintered as well as we did, the conditions are great,the course is very very dry.

    All the best to your golfing buddies at Ottawa Golf.

    Talking March Golf

    Conditions today reminded me of those during the First (Annual?) Ottawa Golf Open! I remember a couple of years ago sneaking out for an early season round at The Canadian on what started out as a reasonable early April day. By about the 12th hole a snow squawl blew through which gave no signs of letting up, and by the time we got back to the club house we were covered in snow and all our balls were frozen.

    October weather

    I know what you mean Statsfreak.

    Last October when we got that early one day snowfall, I was working at my home course when it started to snow. There were four golfers on the course that continued play. I went to the clubhouse to watch them play the ninth and one of the players used a rake from the trap to clear the snow away so he could putt.

    Hmmm.... reminds me of the OG Open as well!

    I have not, but apparently Cedar Glen was open on the weekend, and this week is looking very promising all over the region

    Yes, Cedar Glen was open ( back 9 only ) and although a little chilly the course wasn't that bad. Lot's of hackers like me out there too.Once you've played in that weather, the rest of the season is a breeze.

    opening day

    Mont Cascades is scheduled to open officially on April 27th. I believe that it will be the first mountain course open- full 18 holes.
