Sens just traded for Ben Bishop, goalie out of St. Louis' AHL system. He just signed a 1year/1-way contract which tells me that Lehner might be staying in the AHL, not backing up Auld.
I'm thinking this is more of a depth move, not in reaction to Anderson's injury.

Good move. The sens only have 3 goalies that can play in the NHL plus Anderson. Looks to be a decent pick up without giving up a body
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

I agree, but for a 2nd rounder? Perhaps they are doing the same as Anderson last year, try him out and see if he can be a legit back-up to Anderson going forward.

    I think its ok

The sens would have needed to draft a goalie as they are thin there right now. They get a good one who is mature and can step in if needed. Right now the need is depth. They've also got lots of other young non goalie prospects.

Ya you're right. I was hoping the would go after Jonathon Bernier and not only add depth, but solidify a nice 1-2 punch ala Vancouver/Boston.

I was wrong above, he's signed a 2-way contract this year. His 1-way contract kicks in next year.

    Apparently he's 6'7, 210lbs. Stats are 24-14-0, 2.26GAA and .928 Sv%. Much better than Lehner's for sure.

How about this for a dream trade:

    To Sens: Rick Nash
To BlueJackets: Robin Lehner, Patrick Wiercioch and a 3rd

The Jackets want half of the Rangers roster for Nash. I don't know who Lehner, Wiercioch and a 3rd are; but i dont think that would be enough.

This is for me the second most boring trade deadline day ever! I will not anticipate this day ever again.

Sounds like it could be a 'rough' one in Boston tonight with Corvo publicly challenging Turris to a fight. I'll bet Shanahan will be watching this one. Wonder if McLean will dress Carkner and Konopka.

So, what are your initial thoughts on Bishop? I thought he was 'Ok', nothing really bad but nothing great. It was his first game in the big leagues for a while so he needs some time to get his feet wet and until then probably best to reserve judgement.

I think he was nervous and did not play his usual game. He seemed to be overreacting to things and getting out of position sometimes. Hopefully the butterflies are gone and McClean has settled him down. His puck handling ability seemed really good. I was pleased that Lehner was able to go to Bingo and get a shut out and not complain, he is maturing.

Let's hope McLean gives him (Bishop) a few games to show his stuff. Dilema now is that Sens are in playoff run (not like last year) and you typically want to go with your performing and proven players as each game becomes more and more important.

To Brian Murray and Paul McLean: PLEASE keep Klinkhammer! This guy is good and will only get better. He's another Colin Greening.

Lehner & Bishop are both NHL ready, but if Anderson can come back from his injury and be sharp he deserves to be the #1 netminder for remainder of this season. But as well as he has played prior to injury I could see the Sens moving Anderson ( & his 3.2 ) in the off season.

If there was an NHL award for GM of the year Murray would have to be a front runner. As much as I'd like to say MacLean deserves coach of the year Hitchcock will be tough to beat out.

Lehnor is NHL ready technically and skillwise but I think Sens want him to grow up and mature as a person as they've had personal problems with other players before like this in the past.

I'm hoping that they get Anderson back before the Habs and Leafs games this week coming . Bishop played OK , but just OK not outstanding by any stretch .I think this could be be a very tough week for the Sens , the Habs are playing well with no presssure to perform and we know the dirty old Leafs would love to bring Ottawa down too . I'd like to see Anderson back to help out in these crucial games .... GO SENS

well deserved , so many positives from the 2011/12 season. The fact they buckled down recently beat Pit , Phil and NYI to secure a spot when the race was getting tight indicates to me they are playoff ready. I would not bet on them but also would not be surprised to see them pull off an upset ( or 2).
