    Wearing a headband playing golf

I've started wearing a headband while playing golf as I really don't like to wear a hat when I play. What are your thoughts on sporting a headband? The other guys on my golf team haven't taken to it very well. It is sort of similar to Pelle Edberg's but it's made for tennis.

The guys you play with actually care what you wear? Why do you need to wear anything if you don't like hats?

Yeah they rib me a bit for it. It keeps the sweat off my face and keeps my hair back so it doesn't bother me.

I'll give you a "like" on this subject. Sported a headband for a while. Unique look and serves a purpose.
My name is Paul. And I'm a golfaholic.

Do whatever you want to do and who cares what anyone thinks. I've rocked a white headband before playing golf and my boys thought it was ridiculous but who cares!

I'll give you a like too. I also do not like wearing hats when I play golf so I usually just wear no headgear. Its funny when I see old footage of pro golf...guys are wearing no hats or ball caps or flat caps or brimmed hats...allsorts. Now, with only one or two exceptions, its seems the ball cap is just ubiquitous...a bit boring and un-individual really

I always thought that the main purpose of a hat of some sort is to protect your face, especially nose, from sun burn. A band is only going to do that for your forehead, and worse you might end up with a bizarre tan line across it.

As we enter Fall golfing though, I might go to a headband for warmth instead of a tuque.

LOL, that's what's I was thinking too. Joking of course.

Personally, I don't really like it and if I was your buddy there would definitely be some good natured ribbing. All in all though, it's all about what you are comfortable in., so whatever...

I'm a student, haircuts among other things are replacing beer as a non-essentials.

I wouldn't stop wearing it based on other people's reactions, I was just wondering what others thought of it.

Well if you are just looking for opinions, I think it looks ridiculous and I can honestly only see girls wearing something like that... then again, anytime a guy needs something to keep his hair out of his face it is going to look feminine.

Important thing is wearing what's comfortable to use and for as long as it does not affect the pace of our game. Personally, I prefer not to wear head gear I find it distracting except when playing under the mid day sun.

Thumbs down. Your golf team is right to ridicule.

While you're at it, why don't you get some iron covers too?

Hey for once you and I actually agree on something Personally I would not be caught dead on a golf course wearing a headband. Headbands are tennis players, not male golfers. Plus when you are 50 years old and the surgeon is cutting off skin cancer off your face you will then realize you should have worn a hat.

Iron covers? Worse golf accessory invented. You hit golf balls with irons with a swing speed of anywhere over 80 mph and you are worried about those irons being protected while you walk down a fairway? Plus all they do is trap moisture inside them, hey that is good for the irons isn't it?
My opinions are my own, I do not follow others.

Unless you don't want bag chatter all over your nice forged clubs

You are barking up the wrong tree here. I think more than half the OG players in Belleville were using them. I thought about mentioning something but I was worried about getting swarmed. LOL

Carried my forged irons for quite a few years and never worried about, or had any bag chatter on them.

And headbands are for women golfers when they are playing in cooler weather. Men were toques in cold weather.

I watched most of the Ontario University golf teams play last week at STG&CC in Union. Didn't see any guys wearing headbands when they came past the hole I was marshaling. Also did not see any iron covers being pulled off irons for the second shots to the Par 4 green. So not all that popular I guess with the University golf teams. No one I play with uses iron covers on their forged irons.

I'm running around looking for my "ear muffs"----if I find them they will probably need new springs to hold them on !!!
    Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?
